  • Saturday, July 10 – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Hidden Treasures of the Berkshires Garden Tour

    Six private Stockbridge gardens, as well as several houses,  will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 for the 20th Annual Hidden Treasures of the Berkshires tour.

    Advance ticket purchase, $35, is recommended, by check and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Lenox Garden Club, Box 552, Lenox, Mass., 01240. Box lunches cost $20 and must be pre-ordered. Tickets will also be available at Mary Stuart Collections, 69 Church Street, Lenox,  Campo de ‘Fiori, 1815 N. Main Street, Sheffield, and Hammertown Barn, 325 Stockbridge Road, Great Barrington.  Tickets, if available on the day of the tour, will be $40 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church.  Information: (413) 298-3089 and lenoxgardenclub.net.

  • Saturday, June 26, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm – Santa’s Friends Have a Green Thumb Garden Tour

    On Saturday, June 26, from 9 – 5, the Sea Spray Garden Club will sponsor a tour of eleven gardens in Salisbury, Massachusetts, for the benefit of Santa’s Helpers and the Amesbury Holiday Program.  Both charities serves over 750 families last year.  One of the featured gardens appeared in the May 2009 issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine.  At the conclusion of the self guided tour at 5 pm, there will be an art auction, also to benefit the two charities.  Admission is $25, there will be plants available for purchase, and for further information, contact Doug Morris at breadman25@verizon.net, or call 978-948-8181.  You can follow the Sea Spray Garden Club on Facebook, key word Sea Spray Garden Club.

  • Friday – Saturday, July 9 and 10, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm – Coastal Gardens Tour

    The Rockport Garden Club presents its Coastal Gardens Tour, a tour of sixteen  private Rockport seaside gardens (ten stops), on Friday and Saturday, July 9 and 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Ten stops provide access, and each garden offers unique plantings and styles.  Most of the gardens are on the waterfront along Rockport’s spectacular coastline, while others feature ocean views.  Perennials, refreshments, and original art will be offered for sale at designated tour sites.  All proceeds will be used to maintain Rockport’s town gardens and to fund civic projects and scholarships.  This is a rain or shine event.  Admission is $25 in advance (call 978-546-5949).  Tickets may be purchased after June 1 at Toad Hall Bookstore, 51 Main Street, Rockport, at Pier & Main Gifts, 1 Main Street in Rockport, and on the week of the tour at the Visitor Information Booth, Main Street (Rte. 127).  For further information,  you may email Gretchen Anderson at ganderson8945@comcast.net, or log on to www.rockportgardenclub.org.  The picture below was taken by Francine Crawford at last summer’s tour, which she and Jolinda Taylor attended.

    Roslindale Green & Clean sponsors See How Our Gardens Grow on Saturday, June 12, from 11 am – 4 pm. This self guided tour of eight Roslindale gardens begins at Adams Park in Roslindale Village, and proceeds from the tour will improve Roslindale’s public green spaces. Roslindale Green & Clean is a non-profit, all volunteer organization (www.roslindalegreenandclean.org). Tickets are $15 before June 6, and $20 thereafter.   • Fridays, June 18, July 16, and August 20, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Cocktails in Great Gardens of the Berkshires

    The Berkshire Botanical Garden has arranged for a series of Friday evening visits to spectacular private gardens featured in the Rich Pomerantz’s beautiful book, Great Gardens of The Berkshires. Enjoy this rare opportunity to roam these private spaces with the gardeners themselves while enjoying wine and hors d’oeuvre in the beautiful waning light of the summer day.   • Saturday, June 12, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm – Westford Friends & Newcomers 2010 Garden Tour

    Westford Friends & Newcomers is pleased to invite you to their Garden Tour 2010. This self-guided tour of private home gardens in the scenic and historic town of Westford will be Saturday, June 12 (rain or shine). The gardens will be open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

    Tickets are available in advance for $15.  The order form can be downloaded from www.westford.com/newcomers or call 978-866-9620 for information.   Advance purchase tickets and the tour map will be available for pick-up at the Hostess Booth at St. Mark’s Church, 75 Cold Spring Road, Westford on the morning of the event. You can also purchase tickets on the day of the event for $20 at St. Mark’s Church, beginning at 9:45 a.m. Tickets are non-refundable. All garden visitors must have a ticket.

    Because these are privately owned gardens, they will vary in style, size, and accessibility. Some gardens may not be handicapped accessible. Strollers are not allowed in the gardens in order to protect the gardeners’ properties.

    The sponsoring organization, Westford Friends & Newcomers, is a not-for-profit, social and philanthropic organization that brings together both new and long-time residents for service activities and social events. All proceeds from Garden Tour 2010 will help support a wide variety of charitable, humanitarian and civic improvement projects.

    The 10th Anniversary of the Secret Gardens of Cambridge, sponsored by the Friends of the Cambridge Public Library, will be held on Sunday, June 13th from 10AM to 4PM, rain or shine.

    This self-guided tour includes access to nineteen private gardens, special green spaces, and historic locations throughout the city.   • Friday, June 11, 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm – Glories of the Garden Art and Floral Show Preview Party

    A celebration of the opening night of Glories of the Garden, a summer-long series of programs and events to support the restoration of the gardens at Highfield Hall, will be held Friday, June 11, from 6 – 8:30 pm at Highfield Hall, 56 Highfield Drive in Falmouth.

    The evening’s activities  include hors d’oeuvre by Chef Roland, a complimentary wine and beer bar, and a preview of an art exhibition representing 34 regional artists.
