  • Tuesday, May 11, 6:00 – 8:30 pm – The 100 Party

  • Sunday, May 2, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Sharon Old House Tour

    The Sharon Historical Society’s Old House Tour will take place Sunday, May 2, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, rain or shine.  This year’s tour will feature five architecturally significant homes, including the remarkable Steampunk House (below) on Pleasant Street.  The self-guided tour of these charming private homes affords the opportunity to explore their decorations as well as their wonderful architecture.  Guides will be available to discuss the significant features of each.  The newly renovated Sharon Community Center and the long awaited Wilbur School conversion will also be open as part of the tour.  Take this moment to see these remarkable transformations.  This is an important fundraiser to benefit The Historical Society, so please purchase tickets early.  All funds that are raised will benefit the Society and its programs.  The Society receives no funding from the town or from the Commonwealth.

    Tickets are $16 per person for members and $20 for non-members. Checks should be made payable to the Sharon Historical Society.  Advance order tickets can be purchased at the Museum or at Coldwell Banker Real Estate, 3 North Main Street in Post Office Square, Sharon.  On the day of the tour, tickets will be available at all five homes, and at the Museum.  Call the Society at 781-784-9966, or call jean Santos at 781-784-5835.

    COGdesign announces the In The Garden Online Auction to benefit community green spaces.  Bids will be accepted through Tuesday, April 13, at www.cogdesign.org. Items include a granite compass rose by sculptor Karin Stanley (pictured below), a weekend getaway on Martha’s Vineyard, organic compost from Coast of Maine, a 7’ tall hand-crafted iron tuteur in Mediterranean blue, and many other wonderful items for bidding! Hand tools, house improvement services, garden-inspired art, personal adornments (beads), wine & food, garden consultations, museum memberships, books, ONE-OF-A-KIND treasures, and, naturally, a Garden Club of the Back Bay holiday wreath.

    Take a tour of the Hidden Gardens of Beacon Hill on Thursday, May 20, 9-5, rain or shine.  The 81st Annual Tour is self-guided and may be viewed at your own pace.  Complimentary tea and coffee will be served at The Church of the Advent, 30 Brimmer Street.  To purchase tickets in advance by mail, send a check payable to Beacon Hill Garden Club to Ticket Chairman, Beacon Hill Garden Club, Box 302, Charles Street Station, Boston, MA 02114.  Include a stamped, self-addressed business sized envelope with your check.     You are invited to The Boston Nature Center’s Spring Fling Auction on Saturday, April 10, from 7 – 10 (auction closes promptly at 9:15), at The Boston Nature Center, 500 Walk Hill Street, Mattapan, one of the Mass Audubon Society’s 47 wildlife sanctuaries.  Enjoy an evening of delicious appetizers and desserts, complimentary seltzer, beer and wine, and live jazz by musicians from the Community Music Center of Boston.  Honorary Committee Members include Governor Deval Patrick and First Lady Diane B.
