Tuesday, March 13, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm – 2012 Community Tree Conference

The University of Massachusetts Extension, Massachusetts Department of Conservation, and the USDA Forest Service, will sponsor the 2012 Community Tree Conference on Tuesday, March 13, from 9 – 4 at Stockbridge Hall, UMass Amherst, 80 Campus Center Way, Amherst, Massachusetts.  This Conference is for arborists, foresters, tree wardens, sugar bush owners, and anyone who loves trees.  The conference will cover topics such  as New Research, New Insects (newly discovered, at any rate) & Diseases, A New Safety Standard, and A Reality Check.  The cost is $65 per person for first registration and $40 per person for each additional registration from the same organization.  Coffee break and a parking pass are included in the registration fee, but lunch is on your own.  For a registration form, or to register online, go to http://umassgreeninfo.org/.

 

 


Tuesday, March 13, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm – Bellevue House: Reimagined and Its Gardens Reinvented

On Tuesday, March 13, Ronald Lee Fleming, FAICP, will present an illustrated lecture at The Ayer Mansion, 395 Commonwealth Avenue, as part of the 2011-2012 Jonathan L. Fairbanks Lecture Series Behind Closed Doors: Learning From Historic Interiors.  Ron’s talk is entitled Bellevue House: Reimagined and Its Gardens Reinvented.  The speaker has been featured in The New York Times home and garden section, and is an urban designer, author of The Art of Placemaking: Interpreting Community Through Public Art and Urban Design and preservationist.  Wine and cheese will be served at 6:30, with the program beginning at 7 pm.  Tickets ($25) may be purchased by mail (make checks payable to The Campaign for the Ayer Mansion and mail to The Campaign for the Ayer Mansion, Inc., 395 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215) or on line at www.AyerMansion.org.
