Saturday, June 2 – Sunday, June 3 – Common Threads: Three Historic Estates and Their Gardens

MIT Endicott House and Richard Burck Associates present Common Threads: Three Historic Estates and Their Gardens, on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3.  This tour is an in-depth look at the  history of three unique estates in the Boston area: the Hunnewell “Wellesley” Estate, Sedgwick Gardens at Long Hill, and MIT Endicott Estate (pictured below.)  Saturday’s program includes a continental breakfast, a lecture and tour of the Arnold Arboretum Plant Accession Facilities, lunch, a lecture and tour of the MIT Endicott House, plus dinner and a lecture on the history of the Agricultural Estate.  Sunday you will enjoy breakfast followed by a lecture and tour of Sedgwick Gardens at Long Hill, lunch, lecture and tour of the Hunnewell Estate.  Call 617-715-4905 for pricing and reservations, or email info@mitendicotthouse.org.


Tuesday, May 29, 6:45 pm – Containing Your Garden

The Norwood Evening Garden Club will host master gardener, local designer and garden writer Donna Lane, on Tuesday, May 29, beginning at 6:45 pm at the Parish House behind First Baptist Church, 71 Bond Street in Norwood.. Ms. Lane, owner of Lane Interiors & Gardens in Norwood, and a member of the Norwood Evening Garden Club and numerous other horticultural organizations, will present a live demonstration on container gardening. If you attended her former lectures, you will not see the same program!

Not only will Ms. Lane show how to assemble containers, but she will also show very different combinations of plants including vegetables, annuals, perennials and shrubs. She will discuss color, texture, mass, form and scale, trends in container gardening, the best soil and amendments for containers, and how to maintain your containers for a full season of beauty. All of her creations will be raffled at the end of the evening. The public is invited to attend. A $5 donation is requested. Refreshments will be served.
