Sunday, August 19, 10:30 am – 11:30 am – Down to Earth: A How-To Tour of the Hamilton House Gardens

Learn the inside scoop on the day-to-day work of maintaining Historic New England’s Hamilton House gardens from the gardeners themselves while you pick up valuable tips to implement in your own garden. Gardeners Mimi Demers and Kathy Gray share their knowledge and experiences, touching on a variety of how-to topics including buying plant material, feeding and fertilizing, favorite tools, dealing with bugs, and more.

Saturday, August 11, 2:00 pm – 11:00 pm, and Sunday, August 12, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm – Lebanese Festival and Chinatown August Moon Festival

It’s Festival season. First, from 2 – 11 on Saturday, August 11 at Our Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Church, 61 Rockwood Street in Jamaica Plain, come and enjoy the best food and entertainment the Lebanese community in Boston has to offer at the Lebanese Festival. Home-made Kafta, Kibbe, Hummos, Falafel, Taboule, Chicken and beef Kabob, Maamoul, Baklawa, Namoura, Ouwamat, Ghraybeh, Apricot Sable and many other delicacies. Hot Dog, Hamburger, Popcorn, Cotton Candy and Corn on the Cob are also available. Also enjoy Folkloric Lebanese Dancing and audience line dancing to the music of the famous singer Michel Kaltsunas and his ensemble. Special section of the festival is dedicated to children activities: Bouncy House, Obstacle course, face painting, various toss games and much more.

The following day, Sunday, August 12, from 10 – 5, the Boston Chinatown August Moon Festival will take place, with vendor booths, Chinese dough art, Chinese opera, folk dance, martial arts performances, and of course Lion Dances. Both events are free.
