Wednesday, March 20, 7:00 pm – Dumpster Diving with greenGoat

The Millis Garden Club and the Norfolk Garden Club will present Dumpster Diving with greenGoat on Wednesday, March 20, beginning at 7 pm at the Norfolk Public Library, 139 Main Street in Norfolk. Leading the trend in green building, one local company rescues building materials and landscaping in residential renovation projects, often giving materials away. Enter greenGoat, a green demolition charity that has redistributed reusable building materials, including garden plants, that would otherwise get dumped. To date, the organization has channeled over 700 tons of material back into reuse and shows no signs of slowing. Donor homes get a tax deduction, and adopting homes get a very good deal, making this matchmaking exercise a winner.

Amy Bauman, greenGoat’s founder and director, will share stories and strategies at the joint March meeting of Millis Garden Club and Norfolk Garden Club.  Bauman’s presentation, will cover decisions that homeowners can make to minimize the environmental impact of home renovations. The talk is free and open to the public.
