A popular feature of this site each December is our “Wreath of the Day” picture, and we thought we would duplicate the format with a few weeks of additional posts highlighting the process of putting together our successful fund raiser. So many people need to be thanked, from our co-chairs Jackie Blombach and Jane Gnazzo, to our decorating guru Rita Christensen, to our generous patrons and sponsors, and a host of volunteers. We also think you may find these small stories somewhat interesting. We won’t try to capture the chronology, but we will give you an insider’s view of Twilight Garden Party 2013.
Today, a look at the site: The Gordon Chapel of Old South Church. Old South Church was designed in the Gothic Revival Style by Charles Amos Cummings and Willard T. Sears, and was completed in 1875. This National Historic Landmark is an unusually ornate design for a New England Congregational church, and the Gordon Chapel is a monumental stone room. Club member Rita Christensen decided to wrap the stone pillars in white and gold lights, live greens swagged with ribbon, and green glass beads. Here are the before and after views:
