Saturday and Sunday, July 12 – 13, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Fantastic Phillipston Garden Tour
The Fantastic Phillipston Garden Tour on Saturday and Sunday, July 12 – 13 from 10 – 4 each day promises to be a very special one. It will offer a range of settings not seen in most tours, from the formal manicured gardens to ones in natural settings. Each garden is truly different. Visitors will know that Phillipston gardeners have great imagination along with growing lovely plants. One garden includes interesting arbors and stone walks, another features stone sculptures. One has a fairy garden, and several have fountains that add a musical quality. A pond is the focal point of the gardening arrangement at one stop, and another has exotic plants rarely seen. An interesting variety of birdhouses will be admired at one location, and plants that compliment a house of the 1700’s at another.
Visitors will be awed by the variety and inspired by the creativity as they spend a pleasant day in the unspoiled rural town. The tour will begin at the Historical Society Museum at 80 State Road on Route 2A where people can obtain tickets and a map of the route to the nine gardens on the tour. A fine lunch will be served in a beautiful relaxing setting with musical entertainment by our museum curator Jane French who is also a talented accordion player. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $15 by calling Mel Haughton at 978-249-3171 or Nancy MacEwen at 978-249-7517. Tickets sold on the days of the tour will be $18. The cost for children under 10 is $5. The admission price includes lunch and the tour will be held rain or shine. Photo by Michael Gordon.
