As The Trustees explores best ideas for its public gardens, we invite you to join us to hear how Fergus Garrett balances change at Great Dixter. The online event takes place Tuesday, February 23 from 10 – 11,

Like The Trustees gardens at Long Hill in Beverly MA, the famed Great Dixter in Great Britain was designed during the Arts and Crafts period. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1911, Great Dixter was continuously modified by the Lloyd family and taken to new heights by revered plantsman, author, and designer, Christopher Lloyd.

Today Great Dixter is internationally acclaimed as a dynamic, ever-changing treasure. Fergus Garrett worked side-by-side with Lloyd perfecting the art of bold and sophisticated color combinations, texture, and drama in the garden, from 1993 until Lloyd’s passing in 2006. Since then, Garrett, now CEO and Head Gardener, has led this extraordinary garden and continues the tradition of experimentation, stunning beauty, and fine plantsmanship.
