Thursday, May 13, 2:00 pm – A Painter’s Journey Into the Garden, Online

For the past three decades, artist Christian Brechneff has often traded his traditional artistic studio for the expansive possibilities of a global odyssey. Immersing himself in terrains both near and far—from Lunuganga in tropical Sri Lanka to the Aegean Island of Sifnos—he has had the privilege of painting in some of the most exquisite and heretofore unrecorded gardens of world-class tastemakers and the international elite.

Born in the former Belgian Congo in 1950, Christian Peltenburg-Brechneff was educated in Switzerland, England, and the United States. In 1975 he received a master of art degree from the Royal College of Art in London. He has exhibited in Europe and the United States and has won numerous awards, including the Swiss Federal Government Scholarship.

His paintings appear in public and private collections worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Greece, and the Orange Country Museum, Newport Beach, California.

Christian’s latest illustrated book Into the Garden chronicles the long-term pilgrimage of a visionary painter, bringing exquisite private gardens to the public through his vivid expressions in watercolor, oil, and gouache.
