A wide range of plant species have evolved a remarkable array of adaptations that enable individual plants to survive or grow after being subject to fire. A diverse assortment of these fire adapted (or, pyrophytic) plant species can be found growing in wild lands found all across New England, frequently in areas where burning has occurred sometime in the past. This Native Plant Trust online class with Sam Gilvarg on November 21 from 6 – 7 Eastern will survey a taxonomically and ecologically diverse assortment of plant species and examine some of the adaptations that allow these plants to either survive or grow after experiencing fire. $15 for NPT members, $18 for nonmembers.
