Tuesday, April 1 – Sunday, June 1 – Magnolias of the Back Bay Self Guided Tour 2025

The Garden Club of the Back Bay presents a self-guided Magnolia Tour. Learn interesting facts about the historical Magnolias of Back Bay. On this self-guided Magnolia Tour, you’ll walk a loop starting on the sunny side of Commonwealth Avenue at Arlington Street, up to Mass Ave, continuing onto Beacon Street back toward Arlington. Along the way you’ll learn some fascinating information about magnolia trees, their history, the history of some buildings where they are located, and what our Club has been working on as it relates to these and other beloved trees.

When you register, you will receive a link in your email confirmation under “additional information” that will let you print the tour at home, or view it on your mobile device using the Google Docs app. The Eventbrite registration link is: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/copy-of-magnolias-of-the-back-bay-self-guided-tour-2025-tickets-1305755382499?aff=ebemoffollowpublishemail&ref=eemail&utm_campaign=following_published_event&utm_content=follow_notification&utm_medium=email&utm_source=eventbrite

Thursday, April 10, 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm Eastern – Gardening Year-Round, Online

Join horticulturist Riz Reyes on April 10 at 7 pm Eastern in an American Horticultural Society virtual exploration of his newest small urban garden as he shares his favorites plants and flowers in the Pacific Northwest. Reyes will discuss a few of his current projects and entice you to come visit the region’s most celebrated gardens that inspire his work.

Riz Reyes currently serves as the Assistant Director of Heronswood Garden in Kingston, WA. He began his independent venture, RHR Horticulture & Landwave Gardens, as a specialty hobby nursery propagating rare and unique plant selections and offering fine gardening/design services. Now, his work focuses on garden education/consulting and floral design. Riz published a children’s non-fiction book released in March 2022 titled Grow: A family guide to plants and how to grow them.

Reyes immersed himself in the remarkable diversity of plants that thrives in the maritime climate of the Pacific Northwest shortly after immigrating from his native Philippines. He sought out every opportunity to learn everything he could about the field of horticulture and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Horticulture and Urban Forestry from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
