  • Thursday, July 16, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Camden Garden Club’s 77th Annual Garden Tour

The Camden Garden Club’s 77th Annual Garden Tour will take place, rain or shine, Thursday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Six distinctive gardens, designed and lovingly maintained by their owners will be showcased. From a sweeping five-acre estate to a charming village garden tucked into the woods, each stop offers inspiration and discovery. It is both a privilege and a pleasure for Club members to share these unique spaces with the community.

Not only are the homes the highlight, but this year, Tour Chairs, Susan Reider and Lynne Meagher welcome Cassie Sano as the En Plein Air Artist. Cassie will be working throughout the day at a designated garden. Raffle tickets for her painting will be available.

Another new aspect to the day will be two garden demonstrations held at one of Camden’s best-kept secrets, a modern barn in the middle of town that sits between an apple orchard, a wooded area, raised dahlia beds, and a wildflower meadow. All ticket holders are invited to enjoy special sessions held during the day. Linda Redmond of Brae Maple Farm and Gabrielle Jansen of Firefox Farm will create beautiful works of art from nature. There will be an additional raffle for the created works. All Raffle proceeds benefit the CGC Scholarship Fund.

Your Tour ticket is your all-access pass to gardens and activities across the day. At each location, a Master Gardener and the homeowners will be pleased to answer questions. The funds raised by the Annual Garden Tour support the Club’s ongoing activities, programs, and mission.

Proceeds enable the Club to provide Camden’s hanging flower baskets in the summer, the holiday wreaths in the winter, maintenance of the Camden Village Green and thirteen civic gardens, a robust scholarship program, an exciting winter Horticulture series as well as many other civic and educational projects. • Wednesday, July 1, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm – Keeping Your Eyes to the Ground: Essential Strategies for Dynamic Herbaceous Landscape Design

A successful dynamic landscape requires a fully expressed ground plane planting that yields benefits that extend well beyond aesthetics, from managing stormwater to supporting pollinators and more. In this Polly Hill Arboretum program on July 1 at 5:30 pm, Patrick Cullina will review essential design strategies for the design of successful herbaceous landscapes — including assessments of the ecological regions (including Martha’s Vineyard) that offer so many valuable cues, plant selection, integration, spacing, establishment, and more, often through the lens of project precedents.

Patrick Cullina is an award-winning horticulturist, landscape designer, photographer, lecturer, and planning consultant with more than thirty years of experience in landscape-related fields. Formerly, he served as the founding V.P. of Horticulture & Operations for New York City’s High Line Park, as Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s V.P. of Horticulture, Operations, & Science Research, and Associate Director of the Rutgers University Gardens in affiliation with the school’s Department of Landscape Architecture. His current consulting practice is dedicated to the design, creation, development, and management of transformational dynamic landscapes through the innovative integration of plants and management strategies — often in collaboration with some of the world’s leading landscape architects and architects.

  • Saturday, June 27 – The Midnight Ride Opening Reception

In partnership with Embrace and Everyone250, the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy is thrilled to announce the unveiling of artist Rixy’s newest work for the 2026 Dewey Square Mural following the Conservancy’s first-ever national open call for this site.

Launched in November 2025, the Open Call invited artists to apply for the 2026 Dewey Square Mural commission for thematic interpretations in dialogue with the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Artists were asked to reflect on the past, present, and future of Boston via expansive and inclusive storytelling that engages with themes of belonging, democracy, and the spirit of revolution in the city and and beyond.

Chosen unanimously by a panel of esteemed Boston artists, cultural leaders, and community members, Rixy’s proposal, entitled “The Midnight Ride,” responded to the call’s invitation with a fresh, inspirational and futuristic approach. Drawing upon elements of fantasy, creative worldbuilding, and a vibrant palette, Rixy’s proposal brings into dialogue parallel histories referenced in the title: the historic midnight ride undertaken by Paul Revere in 1776 and the lesser known, legendary midnight ride of a young woman named Sybil Ludington, who in 1777, is said to have ridden 44 miles through the night on horseback to alert U.S. troops of an impending attack from the British.

On Sat Jun 27, a free and open to the public reception will take place, complete with food trucks, lawn games, drinks, and so much more. For complete information on times, the work and the artist, visit https://www.rosekennedygreenway.org/rixy
