    Come to Tower Hill Botanic Garden on Friday, December 1 from 11:30 – 2:30 and enjoy an afternoon making some lovely aromatic holiday gifts. Participants will make a body butter, a relaxing or detoxifying bath salt, a holiday room freshener and a relaxing herbal dream pillow. In addition to making your home smell nice, a room freshener made with essential oils contains anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-septic properties which can help to keep the germs and bugs in any environment at bay during the winter months when colds and flu are common. Basic aromatherapy blending techniques will be taught as well as the benefits of using quality practitioner grade aromatherapy essential oils. You will leave with four gifts for yourself or to share with others and the knowledge to make more of these herbal products.     Have you been hearing about Fire Cider or seen it on the shelf at your favorite Health Food Store? Are you wondering what all the hype is about? This Tower Hill Botanic Garden workshop with Anastasia Papanikolaou on Saturday, January 28 from 1 – 3 will answer your questions about what Fire Cider is, its many health benefits, how to make it and how it can be enjoyed in your everyday life. It is a warming and energizing apple cider infusion made with common kitchen ingredients some of which include garlic, onions, ginger, honey and various herbs. Some if its benefits include helping to prevent cold and flu symptoms and/or shorten their duration. Fire Cider helps to boost the immune system, stimulates digestion, warms you up during a cold winter day, is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, a decongestant and a spicy circulatory mover. It can also be drizzled over steamed vegetables, your grains, pasta, added to soups or used as a tasty salad dressing.
