    In this Berkshire Botanical Garden class, we will revisit trees through the seasons, and witness their unique characteristics with and without leaves. We will learn how to identify species of trees, ID a tree by it bark, and understand which trees flower in which seasons, beginning on December 16, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Come join in the journey of the magic of trees, starting with how to identify them in the landscape and forest settings. Led by Melissa LeVangie Ingersoll, Certified Arborist (MCA, ISA, NH) CTSP and Tom Ingersoll, a Massachusetts Certified Arborist. $50 for BBG members, $65 for nonmembers.   • Thursday, April 7, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm – Tree Care 101: Essentials to Keep Your Landscape Trees Healthy

    Join a Massachusetts Certified Arborist on Thursday, April 7 at 7 pm at Elm Bank, 900 Washington Street in Wellesley to discuss the basics of caring for our landscape trees and identifying threats to tree health. Adam Cervin is District Manager of Hartney Greymont, a Division of the Davey Tree Expert Company. Adam has cared for trees throughout New England for over 20 years and is passionate about nurturing woody plants of all kinds. $12 for Mass Hort members, $20 for nonmembers.   • Saturday, April 19, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon – Rejuvenating Shrubs: Lilacs, Weigela, Forsythia and More

    On Saturday, April 19, from 10 – noon, the Berkshire Botanical Garden will hold an offsite workshop on Rejuvenating Shrubs: Lilacs, Weigela, Forsythia and More. Is that old lilac refusing to flower? Spring is a great time to assess your woody shrubs for shape and structure. This hands-on workshop will focus on when, why and how to renovate or rejuvenate your woody plants. Learn about tools, timing and specific techniques available to the home gardener. Following a lecture and several pruning demonstrations, participants will learn by doing.

    Ron Yaple, A.A.S. Forestry, MCA/CLA, owner of Race Mountain Tree Services, has developed a regional reputation as one of the premier arborists. His company serves the tri-state region and is a full-service company. He is a dedicated and knowledgeable teacher of arboriculture.
