  • Friday, April 28, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm, and Saturday, April 29 – Monday, May 1, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm – Art in Bloom

    Mark your calendar for Art in Bloom 2017 and celebrate this exuberant spring festival at the MFA. This joyous rite of spring pairs fine art and floral design with offerings of free guided tours among MFA treasures, plus workshops, demonstrations, and lectures. Garden clubs and professional designers from across New England create floral arrangements inspired by the MFA’s works of art.

    Highlights this year include a special evening preview on Friday night April 28, starting at 5 pm. The popular Members’ Night is Saturday, April 29 and Community Day with children’s activities is Sunday, April 30. Enjoy the Art in Bloom Café with its casual dining and lighter fare among masterpieces of European painting in Koch Gallery, 250.

    Ariella Chezar, an expert on painterly arrangements offers master classes on Saturday and Sunday, April 29 and 30, and, on Saturday, April 30, presents a lecture and demonstration with techniques for creating designs that are dramatic, unexpected, and even magical.   • Thursday, September 1, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon – Ariella Chezar: The Flower Workshop

    Join nationally recognized floral artist Ariella Chezar for an inspiring and informative Berkshire Botanical Garden program on flower arranging. The program will take place at Zonneveld Farm in Columbia County, NY, where Ariella will lead a tour of her cut-flower farm. She will demonstrate how to condition and arrange freshly cut flowers in the wild and unstructured style for which she is know. Using information from her latest book, The Flower Workshop, Ariella will lead participants through the basics of flower arranging. Following the walk, talk, and flower-arranging demonstration, she will sell and sign her inspiring new book.

    Ariella Chezar is best known for a free flowing, wild style and has championed this growing trend in flower arranging. In 2014 she started Zonneveld Farm where she cultivates much of what she uses for her arrangements and workshops. Ariella’s flowers are sustainably grown, and she is committed to using organic techniques on her farm.

    Tower Hill Botanic Garden will host Ariella Chezar, author of The Flower Workshop, on Sunday, April 10 beginning at 1:30 for a talk, demonstration, and book signing.  With experience designing flowers everywhere from the White House to the Flower Shool New York, Ariella, one of the nation’s top floral designers, will discuss and demonstrate her approach to seasonally-influenced floral design. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, Martha Stewart Weddings, Sweet Paul Magazine, Modern Bride, Oprah Magazine, Garden Design, InStyle, and Town & Country. Tower Hill members $15, nonmembers $25.
