    Come to the fall edition of Art In The Garden and start your holiday shopping early!  50 local artisans will exhibit their wares on the grounds of Weston Nurseries, 93 East Main Street in Hopkinton, on Sunday, October 10, from 10 – 4.

    Pottery, jewelry, stained glass, photography, handbags, hair accessories, clothes, furniture, toys, American Girl doll clothes, woodcrafts, Austrian Cookies, and other food vendors, face painting, and much more will be on sale!  $1 admission to benefit the John Andrew Mazie Memorial Foundation – www.mazie.org.   • Saturday, September 25 – Sunday, September 26, 10 – 5 – 12th Annual Hancock Shaker Village Country Fair

    The Country Fair at Hancock Shaker Village on Saturday and Sunday, September 25 – 26 from 10 – 5 celebrates the bounty of the harvest with agricultural demonstrations, wagon rides, a fabulous Farmers Market, and huge tents full of the work of the best local and regional crafters and artisans. Come out to the farm and see all the Country Fair has to offer. At the Country Fair, vendors fill the Village with delightful fresh produce, finished farm products, and crafts of all sorts. The Farmers Market tents boast vegetables, flowers, maple sugar treats and hand-made cheeses. Artisans have furniture, Shaker style oval boxes, original paintings, candles and hand-woven textiles available for purchase. Plan plenty of browsing time for this amazing marketplace! Don’t miss the Food Tent with area restaurants and brews! Try your hand as a Shaker Baker in our Country Fair Pie Contest – in 2009, thirteen pies were entered, and this year’s judges include New Yorker writer Susan Orlean, Berkshire Living editor Lesley Ann Beck, Berkshire Eagle executive editor Tim Farkas, and RuralIntelligence.com co-founder Marilyn Bethany.  A display of quilts in the Round Stone Barn ell has become an integral part of the Country Fair each year.  Over 60 antique and newly made quilts are displayed in this juried show, fine examples of craftsmanship and tradition.   • Saturday, September 19 – Sunday, September 20, noon to 4 pm – Fifth Annual Fairy House Tour

    Sponsored by the Friends of the South End (Portsmouth, New Hampshire), this self-guided walking tour on Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20, features whimsical fairy houses built by families, children, garden clubs and local artisans. The tour will include Strawbery Banke, Prescott Park, the Governor John Langdon House and the Wentworth Gardner and Tobias Lear Houses. Excerpts from “Fairy Houses – The Ballet” will also be presented. Visitors are invited to build an entire Fairy House Village on Peirce Island using only natural materials. Advance ticket prices: Adults – $10, Seniors – $8, Children -  $4; Day of Event, Adults $15, Seniors $10, Children – $5. Free parking is available on Peirce Island.   • Saturday, September 12, 6 pm – Cider Hill Farm to Table

    Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury, Massachusetts, began in 1978 when Ed and Eleanor Cook purchased the old Battis Dairy Farm with the hope of transforming it into an apple farm. Not long after that, the Cook’s son, Glenn, along with his new bride, Karen, bought the adjacent Vedrani Poultry Farm so they could start a quality life together. Now, with three generations diligently tending to the chores, they bring you a beautiful and diverse farm operation that looks and feels everything but first generation.

    We are excited to announce the final Farm to Table Dinner with the Cook family on their grounds. Festivities will begin at 6:00 pm and will include the following:

    ~ A Four Course Meal prepared by Good Tastes Kitchen, sourcing from Cider Hill Farm and other local purveyors.
    ~ Wine, Beer & Beverages from local artisans.
    ~ Live Music
