    The Esplanade Association is proud to be a part of the Boston Athletic Association’s Bank of America Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program for the 129th Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America on April 21, 2025.

    The Esplanade is the premier running trail in Greater Boston. Each year, the excitement builds for the Boston Marathon runners who turn to the Esplanade’s riverfront pathways and footbridges as the setting for their training runs.

  • Now Through January 7 – Downtown Holiday Arts Market

    The Downtown Holiday Arts Market presented by Bank of America, sponsored by the Downtown Boston BID, will run through January 7 in a pop up location at 467 Washington Street.

    Browse, shop, and enjoy the holiday season in Downtown Crossing where numerous local vendors will be showcasing artisan products such as jewelry,  woodcarvings, metal sculptures, food, candles, clothing, holiday goods and so much more throughout the these winter months.  The market is open 7 days a week from 11 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday, and 11 am to 5 pm on Sundays. The market’s last day will be January 7th, and will be closed Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and January 2.

  • Nature’s Superheroes – Life at the Limits

  • Thursday, November 20, 9:00 am – 3:15 pm – Trees in the Urban Landscape Symposium

    Urban tree professionals, tree wardens, persons working in the tree-care industry and anyone interested in learning more about the urban forest are invited to attend Trees in the Urban Landscape Symposium, to be held Thursday, November 20, from 9 – 3:15 at Tower Hill Botanic Garden, 11 French Drive in Boylston.  $35 fee, with an additional $14 if you wish to reserve a box lunch.  Sponsored by Tower Hill Botanic Garden and the Nathaniel Wheeler Trust, Bank of America, Trustee.  For more information, or to reserve, visit www.towerhillbg.org.

  • Saturday, March 1 – Sunday, March 9 – ARTiculture, Where Art Meets Horticulture: The Philadelphia Flower Show

    The Philadelphia Horticultural Society will host its annual flower show March 1 – March 9 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.  The preview party will take place February 28 at 7 pm, for those who are interested in seeing the show without the crowds. Experience the combination of art and horticulture as the 185th PHS Philadelphia Flower Show celebrates everyone from Michelangelo to Monet, Picasso to Pollock, and da Vinci to Dali. ARTiculture will be unveiled March 1, 2014. Art and horticulture are part of a mutual admiration society that has been played out across centuries by the Masters both gardeners and artists. Whether in a Wyeth landscape or a sweeping vista of bulbs blooming in colorful combinations, inspiration flows from both worlds to create a masterpiece on canvas and on the land.

    PHS is proud to partner with more than a dozen museums for ARTiculture, where art meets horticulture.     Individuals of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate in these free and informal photography sessions presented as part of the ParkARTS program sponsored by Bank of America and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. Participants will learn techniques for taking impressive photographs of Boston’s scenic parks as well as be given a theme to focus on each Sunday.   • Saturday, March 5, 2:00 pm – Vanishing of the Bees

    We’ve already mentioned the Insect Planet: Family Festival at Harvard Museum of Natural History, taking place this Saturday, March 5, from 9 – 5 at Harvard’s Museum of Natural History (see www.hmnh.harvard.edu for a complete run down of events), but we’ve just learned that a screening of the documentary Vanishing of the Bees, a documentary examining the mysterious disappearance of honeybees across the planet, has been added to the day’s activities.  Filmed spanning the US, in Europe, Australia and Asia, it examines the alarming phenomena known as Colony Collapse Disorder, and the greater meaning it holds about the relationship between mankind and mother earth.  The film is narrated by Ellen Page and is for adults and children ages 12 and older.  See more information about the film at www.vanishingbees.com.  The screening is free with museum admission, and since admission to the museum is free all this coming weekend for Bank of America’s Museums on Us program – that means free to any Bank of America credit or debit card holder, about half of everyone in Massachusetts, this is a very sweet deal.  See more about the Bank of America program at http://museums.bankofamerica.com.
