  • Thursday, April 21, 9:30 am – 11:30 am – The Border Brigade Season Four Kick-Off

Under the guidance of Eric DiTommaso, Parks Care Specialist on the staff of the Public Garden, we tend the borders of the Garden, mainly weeding and light pruning. Often Eric surprises us with a special project such as planting a mass of Hostas or heavily pruning some rose bushes.

We meet the third Thursday of each month from 9:30 -11:30, usually at the Boylston Street entrance to the Garden.

Small gardening tools are helpful and gloves highly recommended. Our first meeting this year will be on Thursday, April 21. If you are interested in joining us, or want more information, please send an email to Sherley Smith by clicking HERE.

  • Now through September, Thursdays, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm – FOPG Border Brigade

Join the Friends of the Public Garden’s Border Brigade Thursdays, 5 pm – 7 pm, to help at the Boylston Street border.  FOPG is looking for champion volunteer weeders to help maintain the now-beautiful Boylston Street and Beacon Street borders in the Public Garden.  Gloves, knee pads, and some brief instruction on weed identification will be provided.  No previous experience necessary and one can participate every week, a couple of weeks, or only once.  You’ll get a free Friends of the Public Garden t-shirt and a book about the Public Garden.  Feel free to bring your favorite small hand tools.  Email info@friendsofthepublicgarden.org if you are interested, and to confirm dates (weather may affect the schedule.)

  • Border Brigade Call For Volunteers

The Friends of the Public Garden recently completed a multi-year renewal of the landscape along the 900 foot Boylston Street border of the Public Garden. They are now looking for volunteers to weed and perform minor pruning to help maintain the plantings. A commitment to work twice monthly would be welcome, but not absolutely necessary. If you are interested in helping out or would like more information, please email info@friendsofthepublicgarden.org.
