  • Thursday, December 10, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm – Holiday Hooch at Home Mixology Class

    Learn to mix festive cocktails perfect for cheering up the long winter evenings. In this virtual version of Boston Community Garden’s popular Garden Mixology class, we’ll use locally grown and foraged ingredients like cranberry and white pine along with classic techniques to create unique, well-balanced cocktails.

    You’ll pick up a bundle of fresh ingredients from one of three locations (JP, Quincy, or Medford) and return home for a Zoom class using your own spirits. The Zoom session will be held December 10 from 6 – 7:30.

    All proceeds directly support Boston Community Gardens. Tickets sales stop at 3pm on Wednesday December 9th. Members get a 20% discount.     Learn to make seasonal cocktails featuring fresh ingredients in the Halloween edition of Boston Community Garden’s popular virtual Garden Mixology series. This month’s drinks feature witchy herbal ingredients and adult takes on autumnal classics like caramel apples. Never fear, the cocktails will, as always, be well-balanced and complex and highlight locally grown or foraged ingredients.

    It’s peak harvest season in Massachusetts and the Boston Community Gardens team wants to bring the taste of summer to you in your homes! We have curated a vegetarian menu featuring some of the best late summer produce. You’ll pick up a bundle of fresh seasonal ingredients from one of three locations (JP, Quincy or Medford) and return home for a Zoom cooking class on August 27 from 6:30 – 8 where we’ll prepare a delicious meal together. You’ll learn recipes you can adapt to whatever produce is in season.

    All proceeds directly support Boston Community Gardens. Tickets sales stop at midnight on Wednesday August 26. Trustees members get a 20% discount.   • Saturday, June 6, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Pickup, 6:30 – 8:00 pm Virtual Dinner

    The Boston Community Gardens team wants to bring the taste of spring to you in your homes! We have curated a vegetarian menu featuring some of the best early spring treats – tender greens, herbs, vegetables, and flowers.

    On Saturday, June 6th, you come pick up your bundle of ingredients, at the SW Corridor Community Garden in JP*. That evening, you will be invited to a live Zoom cooking class where we prepare the menu together.

    Menu:

    • Violet syrup soda (can be made into a cocktail)
    • Farrow salad with assorted garden fresh micro greens, spring roots, feta, and chive blossom vinaigrette
    • Spring vegetable frittata
    • Blossom shortbread and foraged floral tea

    Staples required: cooking oil, milk/yogurt (dairy or non dairy), salt & pepper

  • Sunday, September 26, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Boston’s Community Gardens

    Enjoy this Ecological Landscaping Association walking tour through  eleven diverse and plentiful community gardens with our host, Betsy Johnson. Gardens include a wide range of sizes, designs, and plant material and are excellent examples of successful vacant lot restoration. The Sunday, September 26 tour will begin at 1 pm at the Berkeley Community Gardens on East Berkeley Street, between Tremont and Shawmut Streets in Boston.  The cost is $15 for ELA members and $20 for non-members.  Walk ins also welcome.  For more information, email ela.info@comcast.net, or call 617- 436-5838.
