    The Boston Flower & Garden Show has a century-long history of providing a breath of spring and brief reprieve from the New England winter. The show inspires, educates, and motivates the region’s gardeners. It’s a great place to discover new ideas, and have a lot of fun at the same time.

    2018 Boston Flower & Garden Show Theme: Savor Spring! As winter wanes, designers and exhibitors will whet your appetite for the sumptuous joys of the season ahead. Colorful gardens and floral designs will incorporate elements of the popular food gardening trend including organics, small-space gardens, homesteading hobbies, edibles as ornamentals and family-friendly spaces for outdoor dining and entertaining.

    The Annual Boston Flower & Garden Show Preview Party, benefiting The Genesis Foundation for Children, is taking place on Tuesday, March 21st from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. The evening will include an exclusive first look at the beautiful and elaborate garden displays and exhibits, beverages, heavy hors d’oeuvre and an intimate live musical performance. The Genesis Foundation for Children is a non-profit that provides funding for the medical care and therapy programs for children with genetic disorders in New England. The Genesis Foundation is the lucky charitable recipient of the Preview Party. The event features appearances by local media, TV, radio personalities including event hosts, Mix 104.1’s Karson & Kennedy, as well as surprise entertainment from the Mix Lounge.     Would you like to learn how to create your own floral arrangements with “wow factor?” Have you ever walked through the floral design competitions at the Boston Flower & Garden Show or the Barnstable, Topsfield, or Marshfield Fairs and thought to yourself, “I could do this?” The Massachusetts Horticultural Society is ready to give you the tools to design your own arrangements!

    Beginning September 30 from 7 – 9 and continuing for six Wednesday evening sessions in The Parkman Room in the Education Building at Elm Bank, 900 Washington Street, Wellesley, you’ll learn the nuts and bolts of how the basics of floral design, you’ll even learn how to enter a competition. The class will cover the basics: how to choose a container, select plant material, and entering a design show. Expert designers will teach you the basic elements of the most popular classes of floral arrangement: traditional, creative, miniature and table design.

    The Boston Flower & Garden Show and its producer, Paragon Group, are proud to partner with the Genesis Foundation for Children and Mix 104.1 for the second year in a row to kick off the festivities at the 2015 Preview Party at the Seaport World Trade Center. It’s a chance for you to see one of the most anticipated events in Boston before it opens to the public, when the blooms are at their brightest and most fragrant! Mix 104.1 hosts Karson & Kennedy will be there commentating on the event as you enjoy light refreshments, entertainment, crafts at the floral jewelry bar, and a leisurely stroll through the gardens.

    Proceeds will benefit the Genesis Foundation for Children, a New England based non-profit organization that provides funding for the diagnosis and compassionate, coordinated care of children born with physical and intellectual disabilities and genetic disorders. The Genesis Foundation’s goal is that all children born with these challenges receive the care necessary to achieve their full potential.     Garden writers, specialty plant experts, landscape professionals, master gardeners, local chefs and the Show’s talented exhibitors shared their expertise at the 2015 Boston Flower & Garden Show in a full program of daily lectures, how-to demos, floral arranging workshops, and cooking demonstrations.   • Saturday, September 27, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon – Create Your Own Tropical Terrarium

    A fun, hands-on workshop, led by Art Scarpa of the Cactus and Succulent Society, will take place Saturday, September 27 at Elm Bank, 900 Washington Street in Wellesley. Create a tropical terrarium using a heavy glass jar with lid and an assortment of miniature plants suitable for an east or north window or for growing under artificial light. Participants will learn how to care for the plants, how to choose soil mix ingredients, and how to landscape with decorative stones. All materials are provided.

    Art was awarded Mass Hort’s Gold Medal in 2013 and has spoken at and led workshops at garden clubs and flower shows all over the Northeast.
    He is a founder and past president of the Cactus & Succulent Society of Massachusetts, and is certified as a judge by the Cactus & Succulent Society of America. Art has won multiple Best in Show awards for his entries at the Boston Flower & Garden Show, the Newport Flower Show and regional cactus and succulent shows.

    The Boston Flower & Garden Show and its producer, Paragon Group, are proud to partner with the Genesis Foundation for Children and radio station MIX 104.1 to kick off the show with a festive fundraiser on Tuesday evening, March 11, from 7 – 9:30 at the Seaport World Trade Center, Boston. All proceeds will benefit the Genesis Foundation. Mix and mingle while getting the first glimpse of the landscapes and floral designs the night before it kicks off.
