  • Tuesday, December 10, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Forcing Bulbs: Amaryllis and Paperwhites

    On December 10 at 6 pm at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, enjoy coffee, tea, a light pastry, while starting a new holiday tradition with NEBG by mastering the art of forcing amaryllis and paperwhite bulbs in this hands-on workshop led by our expert horticulture team. You’ll learn essential techniques for coaxing these stunning winter blooms to flourish indoors, adding a burst of color to your home when you need it most. Under the guidance of our skilled staff, you’ll craft beautiful, custom bulb displays perfect for holiday décor or gifting. This beginner’s workshop provides the tools and knowledge to create lasting floral beauty.

    Please Note: This program does NOT include entry to NEBG’s Night Lights wintertime exhibit. Tickets must be PRE-purchased separately here for the 8:30pm timeslot. This program was rescheduled from Nov 5 to Dec 10 at 6-8pm.

  • Wednesday, January 15, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Jumpstart Spring: Forcing Bulbs

    Cure the winter doldrums! Students in this Arnold Arboretum workshop on January 15 from 5 – 7 will learn the basics of bulb forcing and will plant a layered bulb container containing daffodils, hyacinths, grape hyacinths, and tulips. Bulb arrangements will be taken home to nurture and enjoy. Fee for all materials, including bulbs, soil, and container, is included in the cost of the class.

    Limited to 10; register early. Register no later than Monday morning, January 13 as we must prepare materials for this class. The session will be led by Tiffany Enzenbacher, Manager of Plant Production at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. $40 for Arboretum members, $48 for nonmembers.   • Wednesday, October 20, 10:30 am – 12:00 noon – Bulb Forcing Workshop

    Don’t let cooler temperatures and shorter days outside stop you from growing fresh flowers indoors!  Join Blithewold Mansion’s Director of Horticulture Julie Morris on Wednesday, October 20 at 10:30 am for an interactive session that demonstrates how to force bulbs and create striking container arrangements. Each participant will design and plant three pots containing a variety of bulbs such as iris, tulips, and daffodils to enjoy at home or to give as a special gift.  Pre-registration is required.
