  • Saturday, June 15, 8:30 am – 2:00 pm – Open Farm Day with Rhode Island Black Storytellers

    Join in the celebration of the 350th Anniversary of North Kingstown and find out how Casey Farm fits into the local history of the seaside village of Saunderstown with farm tours at your own pace between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. See the farmhouse museum gallery, Casey family cemetery, markers honoring African American and Indigenous peoples, and barnyards, gardens, and fields on this extensive farmland. Be sure to arrive between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to shop with the excellent local vendors of the Casey Farm Market in between touring. The highlight of the day is performances by Rhode Island Black Storytellers under the large market tent between 9:30 a.m and 12:30 p.m. Artists Marlon Carey, Sidy Maiga, Raffini, and Valerie Tutson of RIBS will make cultural connections through the power of music and storytelling. Free. The program takes place on flat lawns and gravel farmyards with some uneven surfaces. Storytellers will have amplified voices through a sound system. Written materials and a virtual tour are available to interpret historical features at Casey Farm. Accessible parking and restrooms are available.     Learn how to create an evergreen wreath from scratch by collaborating to make a giant wreath for Casey Farm’s barn. This Historic New England farm is located at 2325 Boston Neck Road, Saunderstown, R.I. Then, use those skills to make a wreath to take home or give as a gift using all-natural materials.     Learn how to make an evergreen wreath from scratch at this November 25th workshop led by a master gardener in the barn at Casey Farm, 2325 Boston Neck Road in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. Then, using natural materials, decorate another wreath to take home or give as a present.     Friday, July 27, 6:30 pm – Feast for the Farms

    Historic New England invites you to a festive evening of farm-to-table dining, live music, and dancing at Casey Farm, 2325 Boston Neck Road, Saunderstown, Rhode Island, on Friday, July 27, beginning at 6:30 pm. . Enjoy Rhode Island oysters, delicious cocktails, locally crafted wine and beer, and delectable dishes using ingredients from the farm, which has a view of Narragansett Bay. Proceeds support the preservation of Casey Farm and nearby Watson Farm, along with education programs that serve thousands of Rhode Island children each year.

    What is that bird you hear? What wild animals live beyond those trees? What marine life swims just offshore? Are those mushrooms poisonous? Dr. Bob has the answers. He shares his wide-ranging experience of the natural world during a walk through the fields, woodlands, and coastline of Historic New England’s Casey Farm, 2325 Boston Neck Road in Saunderstown, Rhode Island on Saturday, August 26 from 9:30 – 11:30 am. This Historic New England guided tour changes depending on the season and what Mother Nature puts in your path.

    Bring comfortable walking shoes, sunblock, bug spray, and water. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Meet at the Casey Farm tour table at the Coastal Growers’ Market.

    Spend an afternoon from 2 – 4 on Tuesday, April 19 side-by-side with Historic New England’s Casey Farm’s experienced and knowledgeable vegetable farmers to learn the tricks of the trade while helping the greenhouse team prepare for the popular Mother’s Day plant sale. As you plant, you’ll discuss the proper ways to start seedlings and get answers to your garden questions. Space is limited to 15. Free, but open only to Historic New England members.
