The Charlesgate Alliance, connecting Kenmore, Back Bay, and Fenway neighbors, looks forward to getting together virtually on November 19th at 6:30. Karen Mauney-Brodek of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Parker James of the Charlesgate Alliance, and Dan and Marie Law Adams of Landing Studio will be there. We will be reviewing our project to date as well as advocacy for two Massachusetts Department of Transportation projects in the Charlesgate area.

New Trees for Charlesgate

The Boston Planning and Development Agency announced that the Charlesgate Alliance will receive $10,000 to plant five new trees in Charlesgate next Spring. The money comes from the Fenway Demonstration Project, which is funded by the Red Sox. This exciting news will show concrete commitment to the area as we work on longer range goals. We will be consulting over the winter with DCR about the final locations and species. Most new plantings will likely be in the area of The Grove, where several trees have been removed.

Charlesgate Alliance Dog Park Meeting and Map

The Charlesgate Alliance was very happy with the turnout on April 7th for its Zoom Dog Park Design Meeting. 38 people came. A link to the presentation, first presented to the Dog Park Design subcommittee in September, is here. Regardless of whether you joined us or not for the Zoom meeting, you can give feedback for this element of the project design here.

The 3rd Annual Charlesgate in Bloom benefit for the Charlesgate Alliance will take place on April 30 from 6 – 8 in The Somerset Lobby, 400 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.

This memorable evening for the Charlesgate community will feature wine, signature cocktails, hors-d’oeuvre, a silent auction and music.

RSVP is required on or before April 30th. Cost per ticket is $90 (and up – sponsorships are available) and benefits The Charlesgate Alliance.

A portion of the proceeds will be used to employ Project Place to clean the Park. To purchase tickets, click here.

Tuesday, December 17, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Master Plan Meeting – Kenmore Section of the Commonwealth Avenue Mall

Interested groups, including the The Charlesgate Alliance, have scheduled the final meeting to discuss the Master Plan for the redevelopment of the Kenmore section of the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. The public is invited to participate in a presentation of the preferred design which incorporates many of the suggestions put forward at the first two meetings. Input is needed on several critical questions.  Date: Tuesday December 17th Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Location 565 Commonwealth Ave: Boston Kenmore Classroom Building – Room 106

Friday, September 6, 7:30 pm – Fever Pitch

The Charlesgate Alliance announces “Fever Pitch” will play at Charlesgate movie night on Friday, September 6 at 7:30 pm (rain date September 7.) The Emerald Necklace Conservancy and the Solomon Foundation have joined to help make this event a reality. The viewing area will be in the Grove area of Charlesgate Park, bounded by Charlesgate East and Beacon, near the terminus of Marlborough Street.
