    Friday, January 6 – Sunday, January 15, 2017 – Travel to Cuba

Join the New England Wild Flower Society for a People-to-People Exploration of Cuba with a botanical slant. January 6-15, 2017, the Society will travel on a General License with the U.S. Treasury Department to take friends and members on a People-to-People exploration of Cuba. On this unique and fascinating program, we begin our tour in Old Havana and continue to the Jardin Botanico Soledad, the Escambray Mountains, and the Spanish colonial cities of Cienfuegos and Trinidad. Havana’s old town is rich with culture, music, museums, architecture, and more. We will explore Cuba’s diverse landscapes, including the plains or llanos, ideal for growing sugar cane, and the mountain regions. The complete brochure is available at www.newfs.org.  Register at http://www.betchartexpeditions.com/cen-sa_cuba2017.htm. Fee is $4,495 per person twin share plus air fare from Miami to Havana (approximately $650) plus a $250 per person donation to NEWFS. This price is based on a minimum of 17 paying participants. Single supplement is $795.

  • December 4 – 15, 2014, or February 5 – 16, 2015 – Discover Cuba!

WAITING LIST ONLY for the December trip, reservations available for the February trip. Pacific Horticulture Society has just renewed its People-to-People US travel license to Cuba granting permission to take friends and members on what promises to be a rich cultural journey with a botanical slant. Our itinerary includes Havana, Zapata National Park— the finest wetland in the Caribbean with over 900 indigenous plant species and 175 unique birds, the city of Cienfuegos—”pearl of the south” and home of the former Harvard Botanic Garden, the Sierra del Escambray Mountains, and the World Heritage City of Trinidad.

Throughout our journey, there will be a special emphasis on meeting the people of Cuba: botanists, environmentalists, teachers, scientists, students, and national park personnel.

Steve Gerischer, PHS board member, will escort the December tour, and Josh Schechtel will escort the February tour. See more at: http://www.pacifichorticulture.org/tours/discover-cuba-3/#sthash.PzQGZOEJ.dpuf.
