    Meet new neighbors and catch up with old friends.  The Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay will hold its annual NABB-Q at the Clarendon Street Playground on Thursday, June 27 from 5:30 until dark.. School’s out and the warm weather has already arrived.  Come celebrate the summer with your neighbors while enjoying hamburgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill, picnic salads and ice cream, at the annual block party.  Adults – $10, children 4 – 12 – $5,  free for ages 1 – 3.  Advance tickets are available online at www.nabbonline.com, and a limited number of tickets will be sold at the gate.  Many thanks to NABB’s primary sponsor Kitchenwares by Blackstones on Newbury Street, and further thanks to generous food donors Shaw’s Back Bay, Ben and Jerry’s on Newbury Street, and Cape Cod Potato Chips.

  • Saturday, April 27, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon – Alley Rally

    Spring is definitely here, and the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay Alley Rally 2013 will sweep through the neighborhood on Saturday, April 27, from 9 – 12.  Coordinating with Mayor Menino’s Citywide Cleanup, come join your neighbors, including groups from local fraternities and some of our Back Bay schools, in sweeping the alleys and side streets.  Thanks to donations from our local businesses, NABB provides coffee, juice, and doughnuts at the Clarendon Street Playground starting at 8:30 am.  At 9, you will divide in groups and head off to clean.  After you finish, there will be a picnic lunch (also donated by Back Bay businesses) for volunteers back at the Playground.  This is a great way to know your neighbors and spruce up the neighborhood at the same time.  NABB has been conducting Alley Rally since 1967!  For further information, please contact Ellen Rooney at parnell3@verizon.net.  Garden Club of the Back Bay member Janet Younker is pictured at right, below:

  • Saturday, March 30, 10:00 am – Celebrate Spring with the Friends of Clarendon Street Playground

    The Friends of Clarendon Street Playground and the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay invite you to join them on Saturday, March 30, at 10 am for an egg hunt, coffee, and donuts, plus a visit from the Easter bunny.  The Clarendon Street Playground is at the corner of Clarendon Street and Commonwealth Avenue, and all age groups are welcome.  Image below from www.fromfiretotable.com.  Volunteers are needed to hide eggs at 8 am, so if you wish to do so, please contact NABB at 617-247-3961, or email playground@nabbonline.com.

  • Saturday, December 8 – Sunday, December 9, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm – NABB Christmas Tree Sale

    School’s out and the warm weather has finally already arrived! Come celebrate the summer with your neighbors while enjoying hamburgers and hot dogs–fresh off the grill! There will also be picnic salads and ice cream at NABB’s annual Summer Barbeque. Advance tickets for this Thursday, June 28 event are available on the NABB website (www.nabbonline.com) at $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. A limited number of tickets will be available at the gate.

  • Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm – NABB’s Annual Christmas Tree Sale

    The Annual Back Bay Alley Rally is upon us! Meet at the Clarendon Street Playground, at the corner of Clarendon Street and Commonwealth Avenue, on Saturday morning, April 30, at 8:30 for breakfast, then gather in groups to clean our alleys and side streets.   • Sunday, October 31, 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm – Halloween at The Clarendon Street Playground

    Join the Playground Committee of the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay on Sunday, October 31 from 3:30 – 5:30 at The Clarendon Street Playground on the corner of Clarendon and Commonwealth for a playground party with magic and juggling show (performance begins at 4:15), a hayride around the neighborhood, and a spooky good time.  Be sure to wear your favorite costume.  Pizza slices, drinks and glow necklaces will be on sale for $1 each.  If you can volunteer for a 30 minute shift, email playground@nabbonline.com, or call the NABB office at 617-247-3961.  Be advised that Marlborough Street between Berkeley and Fairfield Streets, as well as Dartmouth and Clarendon Streets between Commonwealth and Beacon Streets, will be closed to moving traffic from 5 – 9:30 pm to ensure safe trick or treating.  Parked cars may stay on those streets during this time but may not be moved.  Adorable picture from the Los Angeles blog meamommy.com.
