    Luncheon speaker Bill Schroeder will outline the basics of climate change and identify steps that individuals can take to make a difference in a lecture and luncheon on Tuesday, February 1 beginning at 10:30 am at Salvatore’s (Sal’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant), 354 Merrimack Street in Lawrence, sponsored by the Andover Garden Club.  A leader of South Church’s Green Team, Schroeder is known for his ability to articulate complex issues in layman’s terms; provide clear, concise answers to audience questions; and motivate listeners to do their part.

    Founded in 1927, the Andover Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that encourages the study and practice of horticulture, landscape design, and floral design; aids in the beautification of the town of Andover; and helps protect and conserve natural resources. The club provides both financial and hands-on support to a variety of municipal, educational, and environmental organizations throughout the region.     In the 21st century the planet faces radical transformation, which includes mass extinction, rapid change in climate, and large-scale loss of natural habitat.

    American Museum of Natural History Paleontologist Michael Novacek will discuss how natural history museums like Harvard’s Museum of Comparative Zoology offer unique opportunities for scientific discovery, education, and inspiration, and provide a management plan that draws on the past, reveals the present, and maps our future.  The lecture will take place at the Harvard Museum of Natural History, 26 Oxford Street
