  • Friday, June 19, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Comfort on the Farm: A Juneteenth Farm Dinner

Join The Trustees at Powisset Farm in Dover on June 19 as it partners with James Beard Award-nominated Comfort Kitchen for a special Juneteenth farm dinner, from 4 – 7 pm.

For this meaningful evening, Comfort Kitchen’s acclaimed team will gather to honor the stories, traditions, and resilience of Black foodways. Rooted in cultural expression and community, this dinner celebrates the power of food to connect people across histories and geographies.

The event will take place outside under a tent, welcoming more guests to share in a vibrant, communal farm-to-table experience. The evening’s menu will highlight Powisset-grown and locally sourced ingredients, shaped by the early summer season. The evening’s menu will be released as it becomes available.

Guests will be seated at communal tables for a warm, shared dining experience that reflects both the spirit of Juneteenth, beloved connections to farming, and Comfort Kitchen’s deep commitment to storytelling through food. Trustees members $160, nonmembers $200. For information on the chefs and to register, visit https://thetrustees.org/event/447471/

  • Monday, December 4, 6:30 pm – Curated Cuisine: A Celebration of Black Women and Femmes in Food

Chef and writer Klancy Miller worked by trial and error at a number of jobs in the food industry, eventually starting the magazine For the Culture. What she discovered researching and writing for the magazine were the extraordinary women of color — chefs, food stylists, mixologists, historians — who have paved the way and continue to. She honors those women in her new book, For the Culture: Phenomenal Black Women and Femmes in Food. Join Miller and Food & Folklore founder Tamika Francis for a conversation about the book with special guests Elle Simone (chef, food stylist and on-screen test cook at America’s Test Kitchen) and Kyisha Davenport (GM and beverage director at Comfort Kitchen), who are featured in it.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase from our bookstore partner Frugal Books. Miller will sign copies and guests will enjoy a bite from the book following the conversation.
