  • Saturday & Sunday, September 29 & 30, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm – 21st Annual Country Fair at Hancock Shaker Village

    This year marks the 21st year of Hancock Shaker Village’s heritage Country Fair, a heritage fall celebration featuring regional artisans, local farmers, and local food. Explore some of the best that the Berkshires have to offer in a magical historical setting. Take part in workshops, sit in on demonstrations, and compete in our hot sauce contest! Kid-friendly activities range from face painting and crazy balloon creations to egg tosses and chicken races. Country Fair is a convergence of historical enthusiasts, nature lovers, artisans, chefs, and so much more. There’s truly something for everyone.The event takes place Saturday, September 29 – Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 10am-5pm. The Village is located at 1843 West Housatonic Street in Pittsfield. $20 for adults, $18 Seniors, $8 ages 13 – 17, and kids 12 and under are free.   • Saturday, September 25 – Sunday, September 26, 10 – 5 – 12th Annual Hancock Shaker Village Country Fair

    The Country Fair at Hancock Shaker Village on Saturday and Sunday, September 25 – 26 from 10 – 5 celebrates the bounty of the harvest with agricultural demonstrations, wagon rides, a fabulous Farmers Market, and huge tents full of the work of the best local and regional crafters and artisans. Come out to the farm and see all the Country Fair has to offer. At the Country Fair, vendors fill the Village with delightful fresh produce, finished farm products, and crafts of all sorts. The Farmers Market tents boast vegetables, flowers, maple sugar treats and hand-made cheeses. Artisans have furniture, Shaker style oval boxes, original paintings, candles and hand-woven textiles available for purchase. Plan plenty of browsing time for this amazing marketplace! Don’t miss the Food Tent with area restaurants and brews! Try your hand as a Shaker Baker in our Country Fair Pie Contest – in 2009, thirteen pies were entered, and this year’s judges include New Yorker writer Susan Orlean, Berkshire Living editor Lesley Ann Beck, Berkshire Eagle executive editor Tim Farkas, and RuralIntelligence.com co-founder Marilyn Bethany.  A display of quilts in the Round Stone Barn ell has become an integral part of the Country Fair each year.  Over 60 antique and newly made quilts are displayed in this juried show, fine examples of craftsmanship and tradition.   • Saturday, August 14, 10 am – 10:00 pm – 7th Annual Zucchini Festival

    The Town of West Stockbridge will hold its 7th Annual West Stockbridge Zucchini Festival on Saturday, August 14, beginning at 10 in the morning, and running until 10 at night.  The location is at the junction of Routes 41 and 102, 1/4 mile west of Exit 1 of the Mass Pike.  Admission is free.  There are activities for kids and adults, including a pet parade, rides and races, including the new Euro Bungi, a zucchini recipe contest, zucchini decorating, a zucchini weigh off contest, zucchini catapult, zucchini car racing, live music by Bootleg, and entertainment, games, food booths, and more.  For additional information, call 413-232-0222.  A parking shuttle will run from 9:30 until 6 from Rt. 102 Town Hall to Card Pond, Rt. 41 near the Mass Pike.  Log on to www.weststockbridgetown.com.

  • Friday, August 21 – Sunday, August 23 – 25th Annual Wilbraham Peach Festival

    Wilbraham’s Twenty-fifth Annual Peach Festival, August 21, 22, & 23, 2009, will be held at Fountain Park, Tinkham Road in Wilbraham. Come join friends and neighbors and enjoy the country fair atmosphere of Wilbraham’s biggest event!

    There is a full schedule of activities for both adults and children along with plenty of food and exhibits. The main stage and children’s tent will feature a variety of local and regional talent, and FlippenOut Productions will make a return appearance on Sunday. And with peach sundaes, peach bread, peach shakes, and of course, Mr. Peach, we’re sure you will have a peach of a time!

  • Thursday, August 20 – Sunday, August 23 – Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair

    Come to an old fashioned country fair at 35 Panhandle Road in West Tisbury, Massachusetts on Thursday, August 20 through Sunday, August 23.  See livestock shows, a midway, entertainment, food vendors, a horse pull, a Woodsman’s Contest (sawing, ax throwing, log balancing – very cool), a dog show, fiber tent, games, and crafts.  Adult admission $8, Seniors and children $5.  For more information on times, call 508-693-4343.

  • Friday, August 7 – Sunday, August 9 – Northeast Organic Farming Association 35th Annual Summer Conference

    The 35th Annual Northeast Organic Farming Association Summer Conference will take place Friday through Sunday, August 7-9, at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus. Choose from150 workshops on organic farming, gardening, land care, sustainability and homesteading.   Teen and children’s programs will also be available. A sampling of workshop titles include Organic Lawn & Turf Course, Community Farm Workshop Track, and Mass. Grass Grazing School.  The Keynote speakers are Paul Stamets, mushroom expert and author of Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World, and Will Allen, founder and CEO of Growing Power, an organization that brings knowledge about sustainable food systems to urban areas.  Entertainment will include dancing, a country fair, a barter event, and a farmer’s market.  Dorm rooms may be reserved, camping spots will be available, and wholesome organic meals will be served.
