  • Saturday and Sunday, October 23 & 24, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm – American Craft Fair at Tower Hill Botanic Garden

    The Worcester Center for Crafts and Tower Hill Botanic Garden have partnered to present the fifth annual juried fair of American craftwork. Hosted at Tower Hill, the show features over 30 fine artisans representing ceramics, jewelry, wood, metalworking, glass, mixed metals, painting, fiber artists and more. The show, free with admission to the garden, will be held October 23 and 24 from 10 – 4.     Have some fall family fun at Harvest Fun Day on the lawn of the Fairhaven Visitors Center, 141 Main Street, with more than 65 booths by local non-profit groups and businesses, children’s activities and more.   • Sunday, December 2, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm – The Jechonias Thayer House: A Georgian Holiday

    The Gardeners’ Guild of Braintree will present The Jechonias Thayer House: A Georgian Holiday, its 38th Annual Holiday House Tour and Boutique & Craft Fair on Sunday, December 2, 2012. This year’s featured home, located at 216 Elm Street, was built in 1830. The inside of this home is nothing short of spectacular, with its gorgeous floor to ceiling windows, built-in cabinets and bookcases, natural woods and murals on walls, just to mention a few of its many outstanding features. The Tour hours will be 1 – 5 p.m. Advance tickets at $15 will be available at Town Hall Clerk’s Office, Braintree Cooperative Bank, Caruso Jewelers, and The Potting Bench. Tickets at the door will be available for $20.
    Also on Sunday, December 2, the Guild will hold its Boutique & Craft Fair at the Braintree Town Hall from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. A variety of beautiful holiday arrangements, made by the Guild members, with fresh greens will be availble for sale. Also highlighted will be quality crafts from over 20 vendors. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. The Boutique & Craft Fair is open to the public for a $2 entrance fee, or FREE with your House Tour ticket.

  • Saturday, May 14, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm – Bedford First Parish Annual Plant and Craft Fair

    The 58th Annual Plant & Craft Fair, to be held Saturday, May 14, from 10 – 3 at the First Parish on the Common, 75 The Great Road, (Route 4/225 Exit from Route 95/128) Bedford, Massachusetts, features a wide selection of heritage perennials from members’ gardens, specialty annuals, nursery-grown native plants along with hearty locally-grown annuals, perennials, veggie 6-packs and tomato plants, herbs for cooking or to enhance your garden, and shrubs. Come early for the best plants and stay on the Common to peruse the crafts and enjoy the day. You’ll also find more than fifty crafters on the Common as well as a traditional cook-out lunch, an outstanding bake sale and fun for the family: Live music by the Yankee Doodle Dixieland Band, a petting zoo featuring Bedford 4-H kids and their animals, professional face painting and a strolling Transcendentalist to round out the day.  Yes, we said a strolling Transcendentalist – try to find that in the parking lot at Home Depot!

  • Thursday, April 22 – Sunday, April 25 – CraftBoston 2010

    CraftBoston 2010 will open Thursday, April 22 at the Seaport World Trade Center, 200 Seaport Boulevard in Boston, and continue through Sunday, April 25.  CraftBoston is New England’s premiere juried exhibition and sale of contemporary craft, which showcases one of a kind and limited edition pieces in baskets, ceramics, decorative fiber, wearables, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper and wood.  CraftBoston features 200 artists as well as work by emerging artists from leading schools and universities, an artist mentor program, a craft book seller and an educational lecture series.

    Garden Club of the Back Bay February speaker Dianne Plantamura informed us of this event.  The garden fountains and sculptures (see picture below)  of her husband Larry W. Elardo, a potter, will be represented at the event.  Hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 – 6, and Sunday 11 – 5.  $15 general admission, $13 seniors, $12 SAC members.
