  • Saturday, January 16, 11:00 am – Snowshoeing Guided Walk

    On Saturday, January 16, beginning at 11 am, enjoy the signs of winter wildlife at the Mass Audubon Boston Nature Center, 500 Walk Hill Street, Mattapan, with a Teacher Naturalist as your guide.  Snowshoeing is an easy and fun way to get around.  You’ll discover animal tracks and signs, beautiful winter scenes, and hidden winter treasures.  Preregistration is not required, and snowshoe rental is included in the price ($8 for Mass Audubon members, $12 for non members),  For more information, call 617-983-8500, or email bnc@massaudubon.org.

  • Saturday, September 19, 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. – Morning Bird Walk with Molly Edmonds

    Join Mass Audubon volunteer Molly Edmonds on an early morning walk through the Boston Nature Center on Saturday, September 19, from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m., to discover and learn more about birds and birding. Binoculars will be provided, if needed.   • Sunday, August 30, 1 – 3 pm – Discover Cornell Farm

    The Trustees of Reservations continue to protect new special places all the time, with a particular focus on the agricultural heritage of the South Coast region.  Be one of the first to enjoy a guided tour of this newly protected farm and explore its varied habitats of field, forest and salt marsh with naturalist Garry Plunkett.  Cornell Farm is located in South Dartmouth, admission to the event is free, and directions and further information can be obtained by calling 508-679-2115, or emailing seregion@ttor.org.

  • Saturday, August 1 – The Salad Days at Plimoth Plantation

    Plimoth Plantation kicks off a one month celebration of gardens. Whether visiting the Wampanoag Homesite, or the English Village this month, guests to Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, Massachusetts will enjoy seeing and learning more about the beauty and functionality of the museum’s vegetable and kitchen gardens.  Ask the interpreters about what’s growing and their various planting methods.   • Through October 11, 2009, 9 – 2 – Chappaquiddick Natural History Tour

    Enjoy a 2 ½ hour oversand vehicle exploration across Chappaquiddick’s barrier beach, sponsored by the Trustees of Reservations. Your guided tour includes an exploration of the rare maritime forests that inhabit the farthest reaches of the island. You’ll also stop at the Cape Poge Lighthouse to learn its history, climb the spiral staircase, and witness breathtaking views of Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod and Nantucket.  Relax and enjoy the birding, beachcombing, and photographic moments this journey has to offer, as you discover the fascinating natural history of Cape Cod.  For more information, log on to www.thetrustees.org.
