Studios Without Walls presents the 27th Annual Urban Symphony, an exhibition of site responsive sculpture in Riverway Park. The Meet the Artists reception will take place Saturday, May 30 from 2 – 4 (rain date Sunday, May 31). The self guided treasure hunt and tours will occur daily. Pick up your map and clues in the red information boxes along Riverway Park, next to the Longwood T Station in Brookline.
This spring, we’re turning pedals into power. LiveableStreets, Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Mattapan Food & Fitness, Boston Cyclists Union, and community partners are coming together for a 3-part bike ride series along the Emerald Necklace and you are invited.
Each ride will be at a relaxed pace for 3–4 miles, with volunteers helping lead us safely on bike paths and lanes through Boston and Brookline.
We’re riding to raise awareness about the Emerald Necklace multi-use path and to amplify mobility justice across our city. This is about more than a bike ride. It’s about experiencing the city in a new way. This series is for everyone, new and seasoned riders. Thanks to Blue Bikes, a limited number of free bike vouchers will be available for riders who need a bike.

For the first time in sixty years, Charlesgate Park is being reconnected to Boston’s Greenspace Network. Join Emerald Necklace Conservancy President Karen Mauney-Brodek and Parker James of the Charlesgate Alliance for a guided tour through Charlesgate Park, the pivotal 13-acre link uniting the Emerald Necklace, the Esplanade, and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. Tickle your taste buds with a honey taste test (the differences may surprise you), and explore pollination information with the whole family. All ages are welcome. Join The Emerald Necklace Conservancy for a tour in partnership with the Jamaica Plain Historical Society, on July 27 at 11 am. Discover the wooded paths, babbling brooks and rolling hills of Olmsted Park and Pinebank, the forested midway point of Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace and source of the Muddy River.
This tour will guide attendees through many of the natural and historic landmarks found in the heart of the Necklace: from glacial ponds to structures that once belonged to the Founding Fathers, and everything in-between. Meet at the Downes Field Parking Lot on Pond Avenue in Brookline.

On Sunday, December 8 at 9 am, join the Brookline GreenSpace Alliance, Brookline Bird Club, and the Emerald Necklace Bird Club (Friends of Jamaica Pond) for a free 90-minute walk led by area birding expert Bob Mayer. He will focus on waterfowl and other winter species in Leverett, Willow, Ward’s, and Jamaica Ponds, and adjacent woods of the Emerald Necklace.
