  • Friday, September 12, 10:30 am – Fantastical Folktales of Flowers

    The Laurelwood Garden Club of Fitchburg and the Leominster Library are hosting a free event on September 12, supported in full by a grant from the Fitchburg Cultural Council, a local agency which is, in turn, supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Fantastical Folktales of Flowers is a truly delightful weave of storytelling, music and song for adults. In this entertaining theatrical performance, Oracle award-winning storyteller Diane Edgecomb celebrates flowers and the dramatic and charming stories that have been told about them through the ages. This show features song and music of Celtic harp played by Margot Chamberlain. The event begins at 10:30 am at the Leominster Public Library, 30 West Street in Leominster.

  • Saturday, December 7, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm – Fitchburg Historical Society House Tour

    The Fitchburg Historical Society Annual House Tour will be Saturday December 7, 2013, from 11 – 4. Tickets are on sale at the Historical Society website, www.fitchburghistoricalsociety.org. This year’s tour will include private residences built during all eras of Fitchburg’s past. There is exquisite woodwork and stonework in some of the homes and a variety of styles; past tours have featured Tudor, colonial, Victorian, an expanded cape and a Cotswold Cottage.  Once again, they will feature a tea room where you can relax and connect with your friends. Come join them for this lovely tour of Fitchburg homes!

  • Tuesday, October 4 – Urban Parks Conference in Worcester

    Join park, garden and greenway enthusiasts, volunteers and professionals from across the state on Tuesday, October 4 to hear about the latest and greatest developments in urban parks! Explore Worcester’s gardens, parks, and trails with local advocates; debate the benefits of urban parks to a city’s sustainability, cultural vibrancy, and economic vitality; hear from city leaders, park professionals and young people about why parks matter to urban residents.     On Friday, February 11, from 9:30 am – 12 noon at the Fitchburg Art Museum, 25 Merriam Parkway, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Master floral designer Thelma Shoneman demonstrates different approaches to interpreting African artwork in preparation for Fitchburg Art Museum’s Art in Bloom, taking place April 15 – 17.
