    Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. presents, on November 14, 2018, a European Floral Design Demonstration and Reception at the Agawam Hunt, 15 Roger Williams Avenue, Rumford, RI 02916. The demonstration features Francoise Weeks, a world renowned floral designer, who has developed her singular style of Textural Woodlands and Botanical Haute Couture. Her dynamic work has been published in national and international publications, garnering her a global following. The demonstration begins at 2:00 pm, followed at 4:00 pm by a lavish reception to meet Ms. Weeks. Tickets are $60.00 per person.

    Born in Belgium, Ms. Weeks has infused her work with a quintessential European reverence for flowers and nature. Combined with creativity and mechanical ingenuity, she has honed her singular style garnering a global following. Her generosity of knowledge and perspective in use of floral materials, structure and techniques, create rigorous and exciting learning opportunities for her students to explore all that nature has to offer. Her studio is located in Portland, Oregon.

  • Sunday, October 14, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm – Embellished Pumpkins

    Join Tower Hill Botanic Garden and instructor Mary Beth Hayes on Sunday, October 14 from 1 – 2:30, and decorate white mini-pumpkins with succulents, moss, cut flowers and berries. Learn techniques of using floral adhesives and plants to create a long-lasting decorative pumpkin. All supplies will be provided. Registrants are encouraged to bring their own clippers. Let’s create pretty pumpkins!

    Mary Beth (MB) Hayes is a freelance floral designer in Chelmsford, MA, who focuses on seasonal, nature-based design. She has studied with notable floral designers including Francoise Weeks, Hitomi Gilliam and Holly Heider Chapple. MB enjoys working with groups of people and playing with flowers and plants to create things of ephemeral beauty. $50 for Tower Hill members, $60 for nonmembers. Register at www.towerhillbg.org.

    Saturday, August 4, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm – Floral Jewelry

    Learn techniques to create your own distinctive, beautiful bracelets, earrings, necklaces and floral “tattoos” using fresh flowers. Mary Beth Hayes will conduct a Tower Hill Botanic Garden workshop on Floral Jewelry on Saturday, August 4 from 1 – 2:30. We’ll use seasonal flowers from local flower farmers. All supplies will be provided, including blank jewelry. Registrants are encouraged to bring their own clippers, and can also bring their own jewelry to decorate. Come and create some beauty to wear!
