  • Sundays, June 16 – September 29, 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm – Sunday Parkland Games

    The Charles River Conservancy presents the 5th season of the Sunday Parkland Games, held in the Charles River Parklands close to the Weeks Footbridge, 948 Memorial Drive in Cambridge, every Sunday from June 16 through September 29, 3:30pm-6pm. The Conservancy, with its partner Knucklebones, provides athletic equipment and instruction for people of ALL ages and abilities. Games include everything from badminton to hula-hoop, (mini) basketball hoops to bean-bag toss. In addition, Karma Yoga will offer weekly yoga sessions from 5pm-6pm.   • Saturday, October 16, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm – Cogswell’s Grant Pumpkin Day

    Historic New England hosts the Cogswell’s Grant Pumpkin Day at Cogswell’s Grant in Essex, Massachusetts, from 11 – 4 on Saturday, October 16.  Celebrate the arrival of fall. Enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, choose pumpkins to decorate, compete in a pumpkin pie-eating contest, do crafts, play games, and try cider pressing. Enjoy hot mulled apple cider and homemade pumpkin pie.   • Saturday, August 14, 10 am – 10:00 pm – 7th Annual Zucchini Festival

    The Town of West Stockbridge will hold its 7th Annual West Stockbridge Zucchini Festival on Saturday, August 14, beginning at 10 in the morning, and running until 10 at night.  The location is at the junction of Routes 41 and 102, 1/4 mile west of Exit 1 of the Mass Pike.  Admission is free.  There are activities for kids and adults, including a pet parade, rides and races, including the new Euro Bungi, a zucchini recipe contest, zucchini decorating, a zucchini weigh off contest, zucchini catapult, zucchini car racing, live music by Bootleg, and entertainment, games, food booths, and more.  For additional information, call 413-232-0222.  A parking shuttle will run from 9:30 until 6 from Rt. 102 Town Hall to Card Pond, Rt. 41 near the Mass Pike.  Log on to www.weststockbridgetown.com.

  • Saturday, October 24, 1 – 4 pm – Fall Family Fun

    Historic New England’s nearby Pierce House in Dorchester, Massachusetts will be the site of Fall Family Fun on Saturday, October 24, from 1 – 4 pm.  Enjoy craft activities and other hands-on opportunities connected to harvest time and the history of the Pierce House as a working farm. Families can make a leaf rubbing, design a pressed leaf card, practice spinning and weaving, and grind corn. Take a step back in time with Colonial clothing, toys, and games.   • Saturday – Sunday, October 3 – 4, 10 am – 5 pm – Berkshire Harvest Festival

    The Berkshires’ longest running and best-known community event will take place during the first weekend in October, October 3 – 4, from 10 – 5, at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens. An old fashioned, family-oriented community festival with something for everyone, including rides, games, food, music, crafts, giant tag sale, and lots more.   • Thursday, August 20 – Sunday, August 23 – 148th Annual Agricultural Society Fair in Martha’s Vineyard

    Rides, games, live music, livestock, competitions, craft demonstrations, food, shopping, art show, and awards for homegrown vegetables, fruits, flowers and homemade goodies. And of course, the ever popular dog show. There’s truly something for everybody.
