    For those of you who may have missed The Garden Club of the Back Bay’s program earlier this fall, the Garden Club of Norfolk presents Frederick Law Olmsted & the Massachusetts Legacy on Wednesday, March 13, at 7:00 PM at the Norfolk Public Library Community Room, 135 Main St, Walpole. Alan Banks will sample the rich landscape legacy of Frederick Law Olmsted, and explore the ideas that shaped some of the most treasured lands in Massachusetts.     Leslie Lincoln will present a floral demonstration on Wednesday, February 14 on Tea Cup Arrangements, at the Norfolk Library, 139 Main Street in Norfolk.   • Wednesday, November 8, 7:00 pm – Challenge the Floral Designers

    The Garden Club of Norfolk will host a program entitled Challenge the Floral Designers on Wednesday, November 8 beginning at 7 pm at the Freeman-Kennedy School, 70 Boardman Street in Norfolk, Massachusetts.   • Saturday, May 16 – More Plant Sales

    You may have been busy last weekend, but it’s not too late to patronize local Garden Clubs while acquiring good plants for your summer season.  On Saturday, May 16 The Hull Garden Club will present its Annual Plant Sale offering a wide array of succulents, flowering plants and vegetables from 10 am at 3 George Washington Boulevard in Hull.  The Fairbanks Garden Club will offer annuals, perennials, vegetables, house plants, shrubs and garden art at Fairbanks House in Dedham from 9 – noon.  The Boxford Village Garden Club will have over six hundred plants for sale at 2 Elm Street in East Boxford from 9 – 2, and finally the Garden Club of Norfolk will do the same from 9 – noon at Norfolk Town Hill and Gazebo.  For more information visit http://gcfm.org/Calendar-News/Calendar/tabid/77/sortBy/cf7/currentpage/2/Default.aspx.     The Garden Club of Norfolk presents Gardening in the Shade with Suzanne Mahler on Wednesday, March 12, beginning at 7 pm at the Norfolk Public Library Meeting Room, 139 Main Street in Norfolk.  Shady sites pose challenges but need not lack pizzazz.  Learn which shrubs and perennials tolerate low light while providing fabulous flowers and foliage, for a peaceful shady retreat.  Public invited.

    The Garden Club of Norfolk presents Red, White and Blue: Our Presidents for You, a workshop led by Gail Tuveson and Jan Conklin. This year Gail and Jan will lead us in making an arrangement that will put a smile of the face of ole Abe and George. And again the design will be kept a secret until the last-minute!     The Garden Club of Norfolk’s first fall meeting’s speaker will be Adriana O’Sullivan. She will be talking about Thirty Plants That Pay the Rent— the very best to plant!!! She will feature 30 plants that are excellent choices for our N.E. gardens. 10 perennials, 10 shrubs, and 10 trees are selected for their hardiness, drought-tolerance, low-maintenance, and multi-seasons of interest. These plants pay the rent by saving you time, money, and aggravation. Learn how to make plant combinations that extend the blooming season and create a beautiful garden. The meeting will take place Wednesday, September 11, beginning at 7 pm in the Selectman’s Meeting Room of Town Hall, 1 Liberty Lane in Norfolk, Massachusetts.

  • Wednesday, March 14, 7:00 pm – Gardens Around the World

    GARDEN CLUB OF NORFOLK presents Henry Callan, antique appraiser and lecturer, talking about and showing slides of GARDENS AROUND THE WORLD. This international tour will take us from the U.S.A. to the English gardens at Hampton Court, the Palace of Versailles in France, to the Courts of the Alhambra of Spain, to South Africa, to the Taj Mahal in India, to the botanical Gardens of old Ceylon (below), the summer gardens of the King of Siam, and finally to Japan to compare the dry landscape gardens of Buddhism to the lush moss gardens of Kyoto. Meeting is Wednesday, March 14th at 7:00 PM in the Norfolk Public Library, 139 Main Street in Norfolk.  Refreshments will be served, and prizes awarded. Suggested donation of $5 toward garden club civic projects may be paid at the door.
