  • Friday, October 30, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Halloween Date Night at Bradley

    Get a jump on Halloween with a date night at the Bradley Estate in Canton, Massachusetts, on October 30 at 6 pm.

    Come enjoy the Bradley’s lush grounds. Bring a picnic or pre-order dinner through us at registration. If a picnic blanket is not your speed, reserve a table and even flowers (additional fees apply). Feeling behind in your Halloween planning? Join us for pumpkin carving. BYOP (bring your own pumpkin) or we’ll sell you one to carve and decorate. Feeling judgemental? Together we’ll award insignificant prizes for any number of jack-o-lantern categories.

    Not happy with your creative efforts? We’ll have pumpkin destroying options available as well.to close out the evening. It’s been a tough year, maybe you just need to smash a pumpkin to let it all out.

    Pricing ($20 for Trustees members, $25 for nonmembers) is per person, space is limited. Costumes are encouraged!

  • Friday, October 21, 6:00 pm, and Saturday, October 22, 5:30 pm – Halloween Happenings

    At sundown this Halloween season, Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield will be transformed into a magical forest. Join us for a guided walk along our Halloween trail, home to some interesting creatures that come out just for Halloween. Glowing luminaries and carved jack o’lanterns will light our way. Learn firsthand about the creatures of the night on this fun family-friendly walk.

    Children and adults are encouraged to come in costume but dress warmly since we will be outdoors most of the time. The program begins in the Barn, where a variety of activities will keep children entertained before the outdoor walk.

    Allow about 1-1/2 hours total for the program. At the end of the walk, warm up by the bonfire as you enjoy fresh local cider and Halloween cupcakes made by Ipswich River volunteers. Appropriate for children ages 4-10.

    Because of the popularity of this program, we cannot accommodate extra people the night of the program. When you arrive, please check in at the Barn to receive your group number. Rain or shine.

  • Pick Your Own Fruits and Vegetables

    Looking to pick your own blueberries, raspberries, apples, peaches, pumpkins, vegetables, etc.?  Log on to www.pickyourown.org and search for a farm near you.  There are Christmas tree farms, corn mazes, picking tips, easy canning directions, canning supply locators, equipment guides, and recipes.  Make strawberry jam, blueberry pie, ice cream – the site is updated daily.  Readers post comments.  Links give directions, and information on whether the farm is organic, whether credit cards are accepted, and hints for dressing for the occasion.  Some farms offer eggs and chickens as well.  You can search by product or location.  Enjoy the harvest experience and meet your farming neighbors.  The website provides a page for every state in the US and six other country pages, plus lists of fall festivals, Halloween festivals, and special events.
