  • Sunday, June 5, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm – 32nd Annual Spring Antique Show and Sale

    On Sunday, June 5 the Cape Cod Antique Dealers Association and Heritage Museums & Gardens will co-present the 32nd Annual Spring Antique Show and Sale. This rain or shine event will be held under tents in the heart of the museum grounds on the sweeping lawns of the Parade Field with breathtaking views of Shawme Pond.

    The show will run from 10 am until 5 pm and will feature 50 antique dealers from across southern New England. The show is included with museum admission and members of both Heritage and CCADA will be admitted into museum grounds at no charge.  To exhibit at the event, please contact Barbara Adams of the CCADA at 508-760-3290.

  • Sundays, April 3 and 10, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Garden Adventurers Lectures

    On Sundays, April 3 and April 10, come to Heritage Museum & Gardens, 67 Grove Street in Sandwich, and travel to exotic gardens vicariously through the exploits of other Garden Adventurers! On April 3, Jonathan Shaw will share his visits to Japan’s most beautiful and unique gardens, including Kenrokuen Garden (The Six Sublimities, pictured below) in Kanazawa and Saihoji (The Temple Moss Garden). Mr. Shaw was formerly Director of the New England Wildflower Society at the Garden in the Woods near Boston, and is the retired President of Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida. He lives in Sandwich, his native town, where he has an extensive garden in the Village that he and Norwegian wife Eugenie maintain. Then on April 10, Linda Calmes Jones, who chairs Heritage’s Board of Trustees, will share her garden travel experience to London’s Chelsea Flower Show (The Great Spring Show) and various English gardens.   • Friday – Sunday, November 27-29, December 4-6, and December 11-13, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Holidays at Heritage

    Holidays at Heritage will be a multi-day community celebration for the holidays during Heritage Museum’s 40th anniversary.  The Heritage Museum and Gardens is located at 67 Grove Street, Sandwich, Massachusetts.

    Visitors are invited to stroll the lighted paths, explore the Hart Family Maze and several lighting vignettes created by the area’s premiere landscape companies. A grove of Christmas Trees decorated by community organizations will adorn the Parade Field. The J. K. Lilly III Automobile Museum and the Art Museum will be decorated with elegant indoor holiday displays. Once again Santa will visit from the North Pole for photo opportunities with him in the Model T.The antique carousel will be adorned for the season and offer a ride into holidays past.

    The museum store will be open with special gifts for everyone on your list. Additional activities such as “drop-in” crafts and community musical performances make this a holiday celebration not to be missed!

    Admission is $6 for all adults, $5 for adult members of Heritage Museums & Gardens, $2 for children ages 4-12 and children 3 and under free. A $1 discount off above admissions will be offered to groups of 20 or more.

    A portion of the proceeds from this event will provide an opportunity for less fortunate members of the community to attend this festive event as our guests. Bring a canned or dry good item for a neighbor in need. All food contributions will be donated to the Sandwich Food Pantry. Join us for this community-wide holiday celebration!

  • Tuesday, July 14, 8 – 9:30 a.m. (and subsequent Tuesdays in July & August) – Yoga in the Garden

    Enjoy the sounds, colors and fragrances of the Heritage Museums gardens in Sandwich, Massachusetts, while you close your eyes, stretch your muscles and inhale deeply. Catherine Paulson will guide you through the practice of hatha yoga. Classes are suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners and are held in various locations throughout Heritage’s 100 acres of award-winning botanical gardens.  In the event of rain, the class will be held on the outdoor concert stage.  $15 per person, drop in registration.   • Tuesday, July 7, 9 – 12 – Flower Arranging From the Garden

    Explore making good choices for floral arrangements through flower selection, learn simple techniques for cutting and conditioning materials, and see the appropriate methods of handling specific kinds of plant materials.

    Award winning floral designer Robin Murphy, who presented to The Garden Club of the Back Bay during the “Art in the Garden” theme year, will lead you through this process and guide you in the creation of your own abundant “gardenesque” floral arrangements.

  • Thursday, July 9, 10 – 4 – Enchanted Garden Tour of New Seabury

    Join Heritage Museums discovering the enchanted private sanctuaries of New Seabury and Popponesset Island on Thursday, July 9th, 2009 from 10a.m. to 4 p.m. (rain or shine). All proceeds benefit the many wonderful programs and activities at Heritage Museums & Gardens. Make the day even more special with a luncheon at the New Seabury Club.  The extraordinary vistas from the main dining room are the perfect complement to your garden tour experience!

    The gardens are located throughout the New Seabury & Popponesset Island area and all can be reached by car. Parking is available near and around all the homes on the tour. Be prepared to walk from parking areas to each of the gardens.

    There will not be any shuttle services provided. This is a garden tour and walking is involved. Please be prepared with comfortable walking shoes—and dress for the weather !

    A Garden Boutique will be on display and for sale in the main lobby at New Seabury Country Club, featuring stunning floral jewelry and exclusive gifts for the garden and home, inspired by the horticultural collections of Heritage Museums & Gardens.
