    GBH Boston invites you to attend an exclusive virtual event on November 18 with legendary French chef Jacques Pépin – author, television personality, and educator. Jacques will be live in the GBH Studios on Western Avenue in Boston. The wide-ranging conversation, led by James Beard award-winning chef and restauranteur Jody Adams, will touch upon Jacques’s career and culinary experiences cooking in some of the finest French restaurants in the world. Guests will learn more about their friendship with chef and GBH television personality Julia Child, and Jacques’s involvement in a dozen PBS television programs and much more!

    The event will be moderated by Callie Crossley, host of Under the Radar with Callie Crossley, correspondent and co-host of The Culture Show and commentator on Morning Edition.

    The Trustees of Reservations and The KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market are honored to welcome James Beard Award Winner and Top Chef Masters contestant Chef Jody Adams for a very special hands-on cooking experience. In Chef Adams’ class, attendees will learn the traditional Greek cuisine that has people lining up for her newest restaurants, Saloniki, in Boston and Cambridge. She will also draw on techniques and flavors of her other popular restaurants, Trade, Porto, and formerly, Rialto. Join us to cook side-by-side with one of Boston’s most prestigious chef heroes who is committed to highlighting New England’s local farmers, fishermen and artisans on her menus.

    In this lively, hands-on cooking class you’ll learn how to utilize the produce and products of the farmers and artisans of the Boston Public Market. Guided by Chef Adams you’ll create an exciting three-course meal based on seasonal, local food, and increase your comfort in the kitchen through new knife skills, techniques, and flavor profiles.

  • Sunday, September 21, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm – Cooking Class with Jody Adams: Early Autumn Harvest

    Join Rialto for one of its 2014 Cooking Classes led by Chef Jody Adams. The day begins at with coffee & scones at 11am in the bar & lounge at Rialto in Harvard Square. Guests move into the main dining room, as they sit back, relax and enjoy cooking instruction and demonstration led by Chef Jody Adams. Guests receive a packet of recipes to follow along and take notes. The demonstration is followed by a multi-course lunch with expertly paired wines.

    Some of the best produce from local farms makes it’s way into our CSA’s during September, when late summer harvests are at their peak. For this Sunday, September 21 cooking class we are joined by one of our favorite farmers, working with the best of the  harvest and bringing these flavors to life with simple preparation and technique.

    Catching Fire: How Cooking Made Us Human presents a groundbreaking theory of our origins.  Author Richard Wrangham, the Ruth Moore Professor of Biological Anthropology at Harvard University and Curator of Primate Behavioral Biology at the Peabody Museum,  shows that the shift from raw to cooked foods was a key factor in human evolution.  Chef Jody Adams invites you to an intimate salon dinner with the author, Richard Wrangham, on Friday, October 9, beginning at 7 pm.  The three course dinner, paired with wine, is priced at $100, including tax and gratuity. The book will be available for purchase courtesy of the Harvard Bookstore.  “Richard’s thought provoking conversation and infectious charm make him an incredible host” says Ms. Adams.     Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has teamed up with the Museum of Science to present a free screening of the critically acclaimed film FOOD, INC., by noted documentarian Robert Kenner.  Narrated by experts Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto), and featuring interviews with forward-thinking entrepreneurs such as Gary Hirshberg of Stonyfield Farm and Joel Salatin of Pollyface, Inc,, FOOD, INC. reveals surprising, shocking truths about what we eat, how it is produced, who we become as a nation, and where we go from here.  The screening will be at the Museum of Science’s Cahners Theater, and the doors will open at 1:15 pm.  A panel discussion will follow with Gary Hirshberg, Chairman, President, and CEO of Stonyfield Farm, Jody Adams, James Beard award-winning Chef/Owner of Rialto, and Jessie Banhazl, Owner and Co-Founder of Green City Growers.
