    The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. presents Fun with Flowers on Tuesday, January 28 from 10:30 – 11:30 at St. Brigid’s Church Lower Hall, 1981 Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington. Easily arrange flowers to use seasonally and every day. Learn how to make simple and elegant designs to impress guests and beautify your home. The demonstration will be given by Kathy Leva, and accredited flower show judge and Lexington Field & Garden Club member. The cost is $5, payable at the door.   • Wednesday, September 13, 9:30 am – Bird Friendly Gardens

    Landscape designer Nanette Masi will talk about designing gardens with native plants to attract birds, butterflies,and other beneficial insects. She works with organic materials and techniques and designs gardens to be beautiful from spring through winter. This Lexington Field & Garden Club program is scheduled for Wednesday, September 13 at The Lexington Depot, 13 Depot Square, Lexington, MA.     Sunday, September 10, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Art in the Garden

    Art in the Garden is a new Lexington Field & Garden Club fundraiser, to be held Sunday, September 10, from 3 – 5 (Rain date September 24). Enjoy an afternoon in a gorgeous landscaped private Lexington garden, surrounded by beautiful artwork by five local artists, all for sale. Bid on goods and services at the silent auction, enjoy tasty refreshments, and meet art lovers of all ages. Funds raised will be used for new plantings at Emery Park, one of the town’s most used and visible spaces. At the home of: Christina & George Gamota, 17 Solomon Pierce Rd., Lexington.     The Scituate Garden Club Plant Sale – 9 – 1 at the Mann Farmhouse, 108 Greenfield Lane in Scituate.

    The Springfield Garden Club Annual Plant Sale – 9 – noon at the Springfield Museums at the Quandrangle, 21 Edwards Street in Springfield.

  • Wednesday, May 15, 8:00 am – 12:00 noon – Lexington Field & Garden Club’s Annual Plant Sale

    The Lexington Field & Garden Club’s Annual Plant Sale will be held rain or shine on Wednesday, May 15, from 8 am – noon at the Heritage Museum, 33 Marrett Road in Lexington.

    A variety of perennial plants from Club members’ own gardens as well as herbs and annuals will be available for purchase. Club members will be available to offer expert gardening advice. Gardening gloves, aprons, used tools and houseplants will also be sold.

    A special feature this year will be a table of choice plants, including dahlias (photo below courtesy of www.burpee.com.)  A professional knife sharpener will be there, so bring along your garden tools and come early for the best selections! For more information visit www.lexgardenclub.org.

    The first two weekends in June tend to be filled with local Garden Club tours, and Saturday June 4 is no exception.  From 10 – 4, the Lexington Field & Garden Club will hold its Annual Garden Tour in and around Lexington.  By the time this post publishes, details should be available, but what we know now is that the tickets are $25, and by logging in to www.lexgardenclub.org, you will be able to find how and where to purchase tickets.
