  • Tuesday, January 12, 6:30 pm – A Bazaar of Flavors: Bringing the Middle East to Boston

    The 2016 Ayer Mansion Lecture Series kicks off Tuesday, January 12 at 6:30 pm with Ana Sortun, Executive Chef and Owner and Maura Kilpatrick, Executive Pastry Chef, of Oleana Restaurant Group (Sofra, Oleana, and Sarma), with a program entitled A Bazaar of Flavors: Bringing the Middle East to Boston.  Wine and cheese will be served at 6:30 followed by the lecture at 7.  The Ayer Mansion is located at 395 Commonwealth Avenue, and tickets may be purchased online at http://www.AyerMansion.org.  $35 per person.

    New Englanders are known for their obsession with great ice cream. On Monday, September 22, from 6:30 – 9, join Sofra Bakery Executive Pastry Chef Maura Kilpatrick and Pastry Chef Molly Rabideau at Sofra, 1 Belmont Street in Cambridge, as they kick off the Fall Cooking Class Series with an evening of homemade frozen treats! The variations on this favorite dessert are endless. Capitalize on the season’s harvest with Maura’s Sweet Corn Ice Cream. Additional recipes include Philadelphia-Style Ice Cream with Ice Wine, Pistachio Ice Cream, and non-dairy Apple Tea Granite.   • Monday, September 24, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm – Jammin’ & Picklin’ Cooking Class

    Chef Maura Kilpatrick and pickle-geek Janice Goldsmith want to show YOU how jams and pickles can have you enjoying vegetables and fruits long after their growing season is over. Maura shares with us recipes for Pumpkin Jam, Pear Butter, and Apple Marmalade. Janice is up to her elbows in vinegar while demonstrating classic Bread & Butter Pickles, Corn Relish, and other inspired, tangy, crunchy condiments.
