    The New England Garden Club Annual Meeting will take place October 23 & 24 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, Rhode Island. The New England Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc.     Come enjoy learning the basics of floral design at the Plymouth Library, Fehlow Meeting Room (1st floor), 132 South Street, Plymouth, on June 26 from 2:30 – 4:30. Demonstrations by experienced floral designers, who are National Garden Club (NGC) Flower Show Judges. $25 per person (members of Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts clubs, please).   • Thursday, March 30 – Sunday, April 2 – Galleria – Living Artfully, an NGC Design Specialty Flower Show

    The Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., Sheryl McGookin, President, invites you to Galleria- Living Artfully, an NGC Design Specialty Flower Show, on March 30 – April 2 at the Rhode Island Home Show, Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin Street in Providence. Hours are: March 30 – 31, noon- 9 pm; April 1, 10 am – 9 pm, and April 2, 10 am – 5 pm. Admission is free with ticket to the Rhode Island Home Show. Living artfully is how we express who we are through art in everyday life. An artful life, simply put, means it is a life that is filled with art – the art that we create, the art that we consume and the art that we share. By appreciating the world around us, by simplifying our lives, setting a mood, and creating things, we move closer to artful living. The Galleria highlights art, culture, travel, fashion, food, wine and more – the essentials to cultivating an artful way of life – through aesthetics, harmony and beauty.   • Monday, May 16 – Thursday, May 19 – 2022 National Garden Club Convention

    The 2022 National Garden Club Convention returns live to the Rosen Plaza Hotel, 9700 International Drive in Orlando, Florida, on May 16 – 19. Registration deadline is April 25. Danielle Flood of ECHO and Gabrielle Burns of CORAHealth are featured luncheon speakers, the Wednesday dinner will spotlight Bruce Crawford of Willowwood Arboretum in New Jersey, and the Banquet on Thursday night will welcome guest designers Kebbie Hollingsworth and J. Ross Railey. Tours to NASA at Cape Canaveral, the Daytona Speedway, and two post-convention tours to the Winter Garden/Bloom & Grow Garden Society and Wekiva State Camp-Springs/Sandhill Habitat are also on offer.

  • Friday, October 29 – Sunday, October 31 – Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts Show: Spirits of the Season

    The Central North and Central South Districts of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. will be hosting “Spirits of the Season”—a National Garden Club Standard Flower show—at Tower Hill this fall. The show offers members of Garden Clubs in the New England Region and beyond an opportunity to exhibit floral designs, horticultural specimens, and educational exhibits with the intent to educate club members and the viewing public and stimulate interest in horticulture and floral design. In this year’s schedule, class titles such as “Bewitched,” “Mask-er-ade,” and “Haunting Delights” provide inspiration for creative expression following a whimsical seasonal theme. The show exhibits are judged and awards are placed. Free with admission to the Garden.

  • Tuesday, July 16, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and Wednesday & Thursday, July 17 & 18, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm – National Garden Club Flower Show: Celebrating Our Bountiful Heritage

    This three day major flower show is presented at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich on July 16 – 18 by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts Southeastern District’s garden clubs and its award-winning Design & Horticulture Study Group. See beautiful, creative floral designs, lush seasonal horticulture, fascinating educational displays, and artistic crafts alongside Heritage Museums & Gardens’ renowned collections. In honor of Heritage’s 50th anniversary, this year’s theme is “Celebrating Our Bountiful Heritage”! Free with museum admission. No advanced registration required.

    The Falmouth Garden Club presents Wanderlust, a National Garden Club Small Standard Flower Show, on Monday, May 7 at 12 noon at the First Congregational Church, 68 Main Street in Falmouth. A light luncheon will be served. $5 guest donation requested.

  • Thursday and Friday, April 7 & 8, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm – NCG, Inc.’s Gardening Study School

    The National Garden Club, Inc.’s Gardening Study School for 2016, sponsored by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc., will take place Thursday and Friday, April 7 and 8, at Tower Hill Botanic Garden, 11 French Drive in Boylston. This is Series 10, Course III. Recommended reading is Brian Capon’s Botany for Gardeners. Subjects covered will include Factors That Influence Plant Growth and Classifying Plants (both taught by Julie Shapiro), Techniques for Growing Outdoor Flowers (Paul Rogers), Pruning and a Teaching Tour of Tower Hill (Joann Vierra), and Creating Landscapes That Emphasize Native Plants (Claudia Thompson.)     Join National Garden Club Master Judges Thelma Shoneman and Maureen Christmas on Saturday, January 30 from 10:30 – 1:30 at the Worcester Art Museum as they explore the world of floral design. The demonstration will present exciting combinations of plant materials and new design techniques. The stunning results will be raffled off to the audience. Immediately following will be a buffet-style lunch and a special docent-led tour of Flora in Winter!  WAM members $30, nonmembers $40.     Sogetsu Ikebana is an internationally recognized school of Japanese flower arranging known for creative self expression. Garden Club of the Back Bay member Kaye Vosburgh is a Master Judge and Design Instructor for the National Garden Club as well as a Sogetsu Ikebana teacher of the highest rank, Riji. Kaye provides the flowers for each class and will have supplies and equipment for purchase. The Tower Hill Botanic Garden will sponsor this Thursday, May 14 class, from 9:30 – 12.
