    The New England Dahlia Society’s Annual Dahlia Show will again be hosted at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill on September 27 & 28. Free with admission to the Garden. For more information visit www.nebg.org.

    The charismatic dahlia, a dazzling plant with flowers that bloom in a vast array of colors, forms, and sizes, takes center stage at one of the most highly anticipated plant shows of the year. From dime-sized minion blooms to honeycomb-shaped balls and even giant dinnerplate dahlias, the spectacular variety in this flower family is sure to amaze visitors of all ages.

    This annual two-day event is coordinated by the New England Dahlia Society, a group of over 100 dahlia enthusiasts devoted to the study, growth, exhibition, and enjoyment of dahlias. For your viewing pleasure, Society growers from across New England will showcase artistic displays of their most unique and beautiful blooms. So, join us for a weekend of oohing and ahhing!

  • Sunday, April 21, 11:00 am – 3:30 pm – New England Dahlia Society Tuber Sale

    From giant dahlias over 10” in diameter to miniatures less than 2” in diameter, a wonderful selection of tubers in a wide array of forms will be available at The New England Dahlia Society’s annual tuber sale. NEDS members will also be available to provide dahlia growing advice and to help you divide your own dahlia roots. The event will take place this year at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill on April 21 from 11 – 3:30. This event is included with General Admission. We recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance to secure your preferred date. You can also buy tickets in person at the Garden.

    There are few flowers that have the unique genetics of dahlias, which accounts for their amazing variability of forms, colors, and sizes. From dime-sized minion singles to giant decorative blooms, open-faced forms, honeycomb balls, waterlilies, and cactus types, you will be amazed at the variety of this flower family.

    The New England Dahlia Society is a horticultural organization devoted to the study, growth, exhibition, and enjoyment of dahlias. They are a young society, founded in 2016, with over 100 members of both seasoned and beginning growers from all over New England (MA, RI, CT, ME, NH, VT) as well as NY and NJ.

    The New England Dahlia Society’s expert growers return to Tower Hill Botanic Garden, 11 French Drive in Boylston, on Saturday, April 11 from 11:30 – 2 to sell tubers and answer all of your dahlia questions. Learn how to plant dahlias, watch them grow over the summer, and bring your blooms back to Tower Hill for the annual Dahlia Show, September 26-27. Free with admission to the Garden.     On Sunday at 1 pm, Chau Matt will present For the Love of Dahlias, also free with admission. With the sudden explosion in renewed popularity, the dahlia addiction is real. Learn cultivation techniques that work in the northeast, including planting instructions, staking advice, end-of-season care, winter storage, and much more. We’ll delve into growing for show versus growing for gardens and professional cut flowers. We’ll demystify the 20,000+ dahlia varieties with their immense combinations of sizes, forms, and colors. Learn to fully appreciate outrageously showy dahlias, from tiny pompoms to giant decoratives.

    Chau is a visual designer with a lifelong passion for horticulture. Being a millennial, he carries a fresh perspective with a constant curiosity, an eagerness to learn, and a bit of laughter to share. Chau is a budding floral farmer who is only into his third season, but has already won numerous high awards at dahlia shows throughout New England. Chau helped found the New England Dahlia Society (NEDS) and is its current VP; he is also a student judge of the American Dahlia Society (ADS).
