  • Wednesday, November 28, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Honoring the Life of Donald V. Little

    Mayor Thomas M. Menino, along with Annette Born, Harry Collings, Adrienne Camier, Julia Donahue, Christine Dunn, Pam Lazares, and Judith Little, invite you to join them for a holiday jog, nog and nod to honor the life of horseman Donald V. Little (pictured below at Myopia as a teenager,)  and to support the continuation of The Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit, on Wednesday, November 28, from 5:30 – 7:30 at The Parkman House, 33 Beacon Street in Boston.  Donation $500.  The Mayor thanks sponsors Christy and Jay Cashman, Julie and Ron Druker, Elizabeth L. Johnson, Barbara and David Roby, and The Friends of Post Office Square.

    There are many wonderful adjectives that come to mind when Don’s name is mentioned.  The phrase one hears most is “bigger than life.”  Don was that!  His life and the equestrian world were intertwined.  The Mounted Unit was one of his favorite causes.  Don was a keystone figure early on to help save Boston’s six horses.  We honor and thank him.  For more information, contact Julia Donahue at jdonahue@baystatefinancial.com, or call 617-585-4534.

  • Monday, November 7, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Friends of the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit Party

    Please join The Honorable Thomas M. Menino and the Friends of the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit on Monday, November 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 for cocktails and light fare to honor Henry Lee and Betsy Shure Gross for establishing and founding the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit.  The event will take place at Parkman House, 33 Beacon Street in Boston, and space is limited.  $500 per ticket.  Make checks payable to the Justine Mee Liff Fund for Friends of the Boston Park Rangers, and mail to Emerald Necklace Conservancy, 125 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115.  RSVP by telephone to Ashley Helie at 617-522-2700, or email ahelie@emeraldnecklace.org by October 24, if possible.

  • Tuesday, November 30, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Friends of the Boston Park Rangers Benefit

    Please join The Honorable Thomas M. Menino and the Friends of the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit for Cocktails in Support of the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit on Tuesday, November 30, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at Parkman House, 33 Beacon Street in Boston.  Hear remarks by Henry Lee, President of the Friends of the Public Garden, and by Julie Crockford, President of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy.  Please respond by November 16 to Ashley Helie at 617-522-2700, or email her at ahelie@emeraldnecklace.org.  Tickets are $500 each.  If you cannot attend, donations in any amount will be gratefully accepted.  Checks may be made payable to the Justine Mee Liff Fund for Friends of the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit, and mailed to the Friends c/o The Emerald Necklace Conservancy, PO Box 300699, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.

  • Wednesday, June 23, 3:00 pm – Search for the Asian Longhorned Beetle

    The Friends of the Public Garden, along with its partner The Highland Street Foundation, hosts a volunteer opportunity on the Boston Common Wednesday, June 23, beginning at 3 pm.  After attending a training session, volunteers will use maps created from a tree inventory to look for evidence of the longhorned beetle in trees on the Common.  A reception at the Parkman House to thank the Highland Street Foundation for funding the inventory will follow.  Free.  For more information log on to www.friendsofthepublicgarden.org.
