  • Holiday Wreath On-Line Ordering – A Revised Method

    We’ve been having some problems with our on-line wreath store – checking out is hard to do.  Since this is the final week before we begin making our beautiful holiday wreaths, we have scrambled for a solution, and have one.  You may still click on to On-Line Wreath Store on the menu above and print the order form.  Then simply fill it out and fax it to Francine Crawford at 617-249-1762.  Payment can be made directly through PayPal, www.paypal.com, if you wish.  Log in (or create an account if you don’t already have one – it’s safe and secure) and click Send Money, then fill in elisabethlay@comcast.net as the Payee.  (Your receipt will show the payment goes to The Garden Club of the Back Bay).  Put in the amount due, designate it is for Goods, and you’re all set.  Or, you may mail a check made out to The Garden Club of the Back Bay, Inc. to Francine Crawford, 421 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02115.  You may also email your order information (for instance, one fully decorated standard indoor wreath with red bow & gold accents) to info@bostonflora.com, and we’ll quickly confirm your order and get back to you with delivery or pick up information.  You may mail a check, pay with PayPal, or bring your payment with you if you are picking up your wreath at The First Lutheran Church of Boston, 299 Berkeley Street, Boston.  Thank you for your understanding and patience!

  • Holiday Wreaths from The Garden Club of the Back Bay

    There is still time to purchase a fabulous holiday wreath from The Garden Club of the Back Bay.  Our loyal customer base continues to support our fund raising efforts with generous orders, and we are happy to expand our reach to new customers (that’s you!) who will enjoy our meticulously crafted one of a kind creations.  Unless you are ordering a matched pair, you won’t see your wreath coming and going on doors throughout the neighborhood (the one below was designed for a Mexican Christmas celebration).  Our buyers are not just from Back Bay, Beacon Hill and the South End, either.  We make wreaths for homes in the Berkshires, in Maine, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, the North and South Shore, and almost every suburb within the loop of 128.  Pick up is easy – just drive over to 299 Berkeley Street, on the corner of Marlborough and Berkeley Streets, pull up in front of the large gated garden of The First Lutheran Church of Boston, and the delivery crew on duty in the garden will load your wreath right into your car.  No need to park, and we’ll have your order ready on either Wednesday or Thursday, December 9 or 10, from 8 in the morning until 7 at night – just contact us and we’ll confirm when your wreath will be ready.  You can order on line by clicking here (pay through PayPal), or you may print the order form on the page and fax it to 617-249-1762, and pay by check or cash when you pick up your order.  We can also take telephone orders (617-859-8865) until Friday, December 4.  Don’t regret not owning one of our beautiful holiday wreaths – act now!

  • On Line Wreath Store Now Open

    Your holiday wreath order is just a few clicks away.  View pictures of a sampling of wreaths and bows from years past, print additional order forms, and actually order on line through PayPal, simply by clicking on the On Line Wreath Store link on the top of the page.  We still prefer the good old fashioned check (we do pay a small fee on each transaction to PayPal) but recognize that for many the convenience of ordering securely on line is a benefit.  Remember that if you live in the suburbs, you’ll have to pick up your order on December 9 or 10 at The First Lutheran Church of Boston, 299 Berkeley Street (on the corner of Marlborough and Berkeley) in the Back Bay.  If you have any questions about the wreaths or delivery and pick up, email info@bostonflora.com and we’ll get back to you.

  • Plant Society Magazine Launches

    Matt Mattus, of Worcester, Massachusetts, maintains a very good website, www.growingwithplants.com, and this week formally announced the publishing of the first prototype issue of Plant Society Magazine, available now at Magcloud.com.  Here is what Matt says about his new venture:

    “Magcloud is HP’s new Beta self publishing site for magazines, and I am using it to launch the first few issues. Magcloud tells me that that they can currently ship directly to USA, Canada and the UK. Let me know how it works if you are outside of the US. As a designer, horticulturist, trend hunter, artist, photographer, blogger and plant collector, it only seemed natural to use this new platform to launch this venture. After all, I design magazines for a living, I evaluate publication design for many of the major graphic design journals and annual award issues, I speak at both leading visual design conferences, and plant societies, and I have a vault of images taken over the past ten years from my greenhouses, alpine house and gardens.

    The publishing business is changing so fast, that what once was seen as vanity publishing, is now much more accepted in our new digital world of blogs, Twitter, Facebook, etc. You can think of this as a magazine, or a blogazine. Either way, it will morph and change as I develop future issues to include both plant related features focusing on subjects not examined by the mass market magazines, and garden lifestyle – with inspirational crafts, holiday design, food, travel, and more all planned for future issues.

    The first issue of this quarterly magazine is for people who are serious about plants. You know who you are, you don’t just like plants, you are crazy about them.
