  • Saturdays, September 6 – 27, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm – City Natives Nursery Fall Plant Sale

    The Trustees of Reservations and City Natives announce the return of the Fall Plant Sale on Saturdays in September at 30 Edgewater Drive in Mattapan. Pick up resilient varieties of native perennials, trees, shrubs and fruit trees along with garden supplies, locally grown garlic, and straw, Proceeds support The Trustees’ network of Boston Community Gardens.

  • Friday, May 16 – Sunday, May 18 – Plant Sale Weekend at The Farm at Gore Place

    Fill your garden with vegetable transplants, locally grown on the Farm at Gore Place. Choose from many varieties of hard-to-find heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, as well as peppers, eggplants, and herbs. Back this year: customer-favorite marigolds! This year’s sale takes place in-person, on-site at our Farm; there will be no online sales this year. The dates and times are May 16, 9 – 3, May 17, 9 – 5, and May 18, 9 – 12.

    It’s not just the great plants that make this sale special: Farmer Scott has been growing vegetables for almost 50 years. He has deep knowledge of these varieties and is onsite and ready to share! According to Scott, “We get lots of return customers.   • Saturday, May 18, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Carlisle Garden Club Annual Plant Sale

    For the general public, the Carlisle Garden Club Plant Sale presents a wide range of perennials, flowers, vegetables, herbs and shrubs that will be available for sale at good prices. Plants can be ordered ahead and some will be available for sale the day of the event, Saturday May 18 from 10 – 2 at Carlisle on the Commons. The Club will run forums on native plants that will offer information on choosing, planting, and caring for your selections. The Club will also be launching a planting program to install native shrubs in many locations in Carlisle. Your purchases support this and other Carlisle beautification programs.

    Curated by BBG’s horticulture staff, this year’s Plant Sale features hundreds of perennials, annuals and vegetables with a focus on diversity and nature-based landscaping, a trend toward gardens that are exuberant and alive, out of the uniform and into something comfortable, and welcoming to birds, bees and butterflies.

    As always, the popular “Ask Me” staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide expert advice. All proceeds from the Plant Sale support the Garden’s horticulture and education programs. Garden members receive early buying privileges and a discount on BBG plant purchases. Free admission and free parking.

    Traditionally held on Mother’s Day weekend, the Plants-and-Answers Plant Sale began in 1977 as BBG’s harbinger of spring for gardeners in the Berkshires and beyond. This year’s sale carries on the tradition of supplying the very best robust plants for landscape and container gardens, along with a wide selection of organic vegetable and herb plants. Featured are a selection of plants which attract bees, hummingbirds, butterflies, moths and other pollinators. The Garden’s signature cone-shaped hanging container arrangements will also be available.

  • Saturday, May 11, 10:00 am – Green Animals Plant Sale

    Welcome Spring! We’ll soon be working in our gardens, and what better place to get wonderful new plants and gardening tips for your home or garden than the annual Green Animals Plant Sale, sponsored by The Preservation Society of Newport County. Head on over to Green Animals at 380 Corys Lane, Portsmouth, Rhode Island on Saturday, May 11 for some great deals on Mother’s Day gifts, topiary, bedding plants, hanging baskets, perennials and more. Green Animals is not open for tours on Friday, May 10, in preparation for the sale.   • Friday, June 9 – Native Plant Plug Virtual Sale Opening Day

    Want to fill meadow, woodland, or wildflower areas with beautiful native plants? The Polly Hill Arboretum on Martha’s Vineyard is now offering MV native plants sold as plugs. Landscape plugs, grown in narrow sleeves, are an economical way to add more native plants to your home landscape. Small, but strong due to their 5″ root depth, they will establish quickly in your garden. Native plants provide important food and habitat for local fauna and pollinators, and increase the ecological health of your neighborhood. Plugs will be available during limited ordering windows in spring and fall. Check the Plant Sale section of the Arboretum website for more information beginning June 9, and to place your order. They will pack your plugs in mulch and deliver them to a pickup area, ready for planting right away.

    The Scituate Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale on May 21 from 9 – 1 at the Wildflower Garden at the Mann Farmhouse, 108 Greenfield Lane in Scituate. Admission is free. Located on the grounds of the historic Mann House, the Wildflower Garden is a hidden gem that delights in all seasons. The garden showcases wild and primarily native plants. The garden is open to the public year-round for walking, bird watching, nature observation and peaceful contemplation.
