    Thousands of world-famous rhododendrons in over 100 varieties offer an explosion of spectacular blooms throughout Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, May 19 – May 29. Photograph yourself surrounded by walls of flowers, immerse yourself in the story of Heritage’s fascinating rhododendron legacy on a self-guided walking tour and learn proper plant care and pruning techniques at our hands-on Garden Discovery Cart. You can also take home one (or more!) of these gorgeous plants from a special plant sale. There’s even a fun activity highlighting these amazing plants designed just for kids and families. All extra rhododendron-focused activities are free with museum admission or membership. No advance registration required.

    This event is generously sponsored by the Arbella Insurance Foundation.

    General admission tickets are date-specific. Tickets are valid for entry anytime between 10 am-4:30 pm.

Enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by walls of flowers, learn more about Heritage’s storied rhododendron legacy, participate in activities with horticulture experts, and take home one of these signature plants from the special plant sale. All programs are free with museum admission. No advance registration required.

    Daily Rhododendron Collection Walking Tour

    Saturday, May 26 – Sunday, June 3, 11:30 am-12 pm and 2 pm-2:30 pm

    Take a deep dive into the world of rhododendrons. Discover how the work done by two hybridizers—Charles Dexter and Jack Cowles—contributed to the genus Rhododendron and created the plants that are so loved today. Guides will select the most spectacular spots for viewing these stunning plants daily. Tours meet at the Dexter Terrace.

    Heritage’s Horticulture staff share the basics on how to maintain and care for your rhododendrons. Included are demonstrations of ideal growing situations, watering, fertilizing, mulching, pest control, pruning, bud-pinching, and dead-heading to encourage optimal health and beauty.

    Join Heritage Horticulture staff to learn how to selectively prune your plants to improve vigor, increase bloom density, control height, and enhance ornamental value. Discuss the tools, techniques, and timing needed for effective pruning and watch a demonstration of techniques on various plants during a walk through the garden.     Thousands of acclaimed rhododendrons in over 100 varieties in a profusion of colors will envelop the grounds at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, MA, during a week-long festival May 17 – 25 that celebrates the bountiful blooms.

    Visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by walls of flowers, learn more about the plants from horticultural experts and participate in other family activities related to this signature plant. Museum guests are also welcome to take home a piece of Heritage’s rhododendron legacy by purchasing a rhododendron at a special plant sale.     Thousands of rhododendrons in more than 100 varieties cover Heritage Museum & Gardens’ 100 acres with spectacular blooms during this week-long event.  Enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by walls of flowers, learn more about these gorgeous plants from horticultural experts, explore Heritage’s connection to noted rhododendron hybridizers Charles Dexter and Jack Cowles, challenge yourself to a rhododendron scavenger hunt, and participate in other family activities, Saturday, May 18 through Sunday, May 26, in Sandwich, Massachusetts.  On Saturday, May 18 from 9 – 1, Paul Blackmore will lead a Rhododendron Photography Workshop (additional fee and advance registration required.)
