  • Saturday, April 24 – Sunday, April 25, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm – 51st Annual Spring African Violet Show and Plant Sale

    This Spring marks the Baystate African Violet Society’s 50th Anniversary. They will sponsor an AVSA-approved African violet show and plant sale at Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25, from 10 am – 5 pm each day.  The show gives people an opportunity to enter their plants and floral designs for judging to win ribbons and prizes.  You can also attend workshops on AV care. At the sale, commercially grown plants and supplies are sold, along with plants grown by Society members. There is an $10 entrance fee to Tower Hill.     Our ribbon selection is extensive, but we must warn you that each year the supply changes, so we can never promise an exact duplicate of a wreath or bow you may see on this web site.  The dark gold pictured here is especially handsome.

  • Saturday, December 5, 10 am – 12:30 pm – Boxwood, Fragrant Greens and Berry Centerpiece

    Create a beautiful, long lasting fresh centerpiece for the holiday season at this workshop with Betsy Williams, taking place at Tower Hill Botanic Garden on Saturday, December 5 at 10 in the morning.  Choose an attractive pot or basket to fill with a lush arrangement of fresh boxwood, fragrant evergreens, California bay and rosemary, accented with sprays of eucalyptus berries, rose hips, pine cones and ribbons.  Greens arrangements are fun to make and, kept well watered, will last the holiday season.  Use your arrangement to decorate the dining table, entry hall, living room, kitchen, porch or doorstep.  Please bring clippers and an apron to class.  Cost $55 for Tower Hill members, $60 for non-members.  Register on-line at www.towerhillbg.org.

  • Saturday, August 22, 1:30 pm – South Middleborough Grange Fair

    The South Middleborough Grange #337 invites you to attend its 52nd Annual Grange Fair at the Grange Hall, 570 Wareham Street, South Middleborough, Massachusetts.  The Grange Fair is held in cooperation with the Massachusetts State Grange.  All exhibits of fruits, vegetables, flowers, canned goods, baked goods, needlework and crafts will be on exhibit beginning at 1:30 pm.  There will also be a baked goods sale and a bazaar.  A chicken pie supper will be served at 6 pm ($8 adults, $3 children), and at 7:15 there will be an auction of vegetables and flowers.  See the most gorgeous pumpkins, squash, beans, tomatoes, herbs, potatoes, onions – many with ribbons attached!  The South Middleborough Grange was organized in 1913 by 98 charter members, and annual events include clam bakes, dances, suppers and meetings with programs.  The annual agricultural fair is a long-standing tradition for the grange and community, and is symbolic of our agrarian past and continued support of rural and agricultural values.
