    Join herbalist and gardener Deb Soule in Rockport, Maine on July 13 at 3 pm in exploring the lush beauty of the medicinal herb gardens at in Rockport, Maine — just a ten minute drive from the beautiful ocean coast.

    Deb is the author of the book The Woman’s Handbook of Healing Herbs, an inspiring guide to herb gardening and crafting herbal remedies. She is the founder of Avena Botanicals, an herbal apothecary that grows ingredients for its artisanal remedies in the gardens she began creating there decades ago.

    In this delightful hour-long tour, Deb will invite you into the pollinator Sanctuary Garden, where you will learn about a variety of medicinal plants that you can add to your own garden for your own beneficial use. Many of these herbs are also of benefit to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

    This is the only tour to be offered by Avena Botanicals in the summer of 2023.

    Children ages four and under may attend the event free of charge. Adults and children ages 5 and older may buy a general admission ticket for $15. No tickets will be sold at the gate on the day of the event. Register HERE.

    2012 Coastal Garden Tour , sponsored by the Rockport Garden Club, includes 13 private gardens in Rockport. Diverse in style, size, focus & plantings, each has had the benefit of significant owner input either through design, planting and/or maintaining these magical gardens. One garden will host all special events: a luncheon for purchase and sale of original artwork.

    Mark your calendars, call your friends, and order your advance tickets for the 2010 Merryspring Kitchen Tour on Wednesday, August 4.  This year’s Tour showcases innovative kitchen design and innovative garden cuisine that you won’t want to miss.  Because the Kitchen Tour is the major fundraiser of the year for Merryspring Nature Center, 30 Conway Road, Camden, Maine, your ticket purchase supports the park year round.   Merryspring is a non-profit, privately-owned 66 acre park and education center in Camden and Rockport, Maine, with nature trails and gardens open to the public every day, free of charge.  This member supported organization offers talks, classes and workshops throughout the year.  Advance price $25, $30 day of Tour.  You may visit any individual kitchen for $10.  You may order tickets by calling 207-236-2239, or by emailing info@merryspring.org.  For a complete listing of venues, log on to www.merryspring.org.     The Rockport Garden Club presents its Coastal Gardens Tour, a tour of sixteen  private Rockport seaside gardens (ten stops), on Friday and Saturday, July 9 and 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Ten stops provide access, and each garden offers unique plantings and styles.  Most of the gardens are on the waterfront along Rockport’s spectacular coastline, while others feature ocean views.  Perennials, refreshments, and original art will be offered for sale at designated tour sites.  All proceeds will be used to maintain Rockport’s town gardens and to fund civic projects and scholarships.  This is a rain or shine event.  Admission is $25 in advance (call 978-546-5949).  Tickets may be purchased after June 1 at Toad Hall Bookstore, 51 Main Street, Rockport, at Pier & Main Gifts, 1 Main Street in Rockport, and on the week of the tour at the Visitor Information Booth, Main Street (Rte. 127).  For further information,  you may email Gretchen Anderson at ganderson8945@comcast.net, or log on to www.rockportgardenclub.org.  The picture below was taken by Francine Crawford at last summer’s tour, which she and Jolinda Taylor attended.
