  • Saturday, June 15, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm – New England Rose Society Show & Sale

    Come see a large, colorful array of cut roses displayed at the annual New England Rose Society Show on June 15 from 12:00 – 3:00 at The New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill. The roses are judged and awarded ribbons and certificates by horticultural judges within the American Rose Society. Learn tips and tricks for easy rose growing and ask consulting rosarians your questions. You do not need to be a member of the New England Rose Society to enter roses. The New England Rose Society is affiliated with the American Rose Society and has been in existence for over 80 years. Their task is to inform and educate people about our national flower, the rose. This event is included with General Admission. We recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance to secure your preferred date. You can also buy tickets in person at the Garden. There will be two lectures. At 10:30 am, enjoy Easy Roses, Happy Gardens: A Stress-Free Introduction, and at 11:30, hear Friends and Foes of the Garden.

    The Rhode Island Rose Society’s 23rd Rose Show will take place Saturday, June 11 at Shepherd of the Valley United Methodist Church, 604 Seven Mile Road, Hope, Rhode Island. The free public viewing will be open from 1 – 3, with award presentations between 3 – 4. If you are interested in entering your roses, you are welcome to come early between 7-930AM
    and we will assist you with your entries. Members of the public who wish to “attend” one of our virtual meetings prior to joining

    The New England Rose Society presents the Rose Show at Tower Hill Botanic Garden on Sunday, June 25 from noon – 4.  Free with admission to the garden.

     

  • Sunday, June 17, 12:00 noon – 5:00 pm – Summer Rose Show

    The rose, often considered the “Queen of Flowers,” and the U.S. National Flower, will be the subject of a colorful and fragrant one-day exhibit at Tower Hill Botanic Garden on Sunday, June 17, when the Yankee District of the American Rose Society presents its annual summer show.

    A huge variety of roses will be on display, including Hybrid Teas, Floribundas, Climbers, Grandifloras, and Miniatures. In addition, there will be an “Arrangements” division, showcasing flower arrangements that make use of roses. The show is judged in the morning hours, and then open to the public from approximately 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. The roses are judged for Form, Color, Substance, Stem & Foliage, Balance & Proportion, and Size. There is also a division for the most fragrant rose!

    The Yankee District of the ARS has been active since 1940, and is an official chapter of the American Rose Society, which is “dedicated to the enjoyment, enhancement, and promotion of the rose, our National Floral Emblem.” More information about the NERS can be found at www.arsyankee.org.

    Tower Hill’s 17th annual tour of exceptional private gardens this year will feature the gardens in Worcester and nearby Holden on Sunday, June 26.  Discover the gardeners’ unique perspectives, and return to your own garden with fresh ideas and inspiration.  As always, a ticket to “City Spaces/Country Places” includes FREE admission all day to Tower Hill Botanic Garden.

    “City Spaces/Country Places” is an important fund-raiser for the Worcester County Horticultural Society and helps to support the educational programs and the ongoing care and stewardship of the gardens at Tower Hill. You can show your support for the Garden Tour by purchasing a sponsor ticket at $125 or a patron ticket at $75. These tickets help Tower Hill meet its mission and must be purchased in advance.
